Finished up Passage of Arms and with it finished Glen Cooks Starfishers "series". I'm myself not sure calling them a series is such a good idea. Shadowline and Passage of Arms are Cook at his best without a doubt but Starfishers and Stars' End aren't in the same league. Both Shadowline and Passage of Arms could also be read more or less independant from the other two while the reverse isn't true.
Started up the Six-Gun Tarot Card and it is decent so far.

Halfway through FoL. I need to start a speculation thread. Sooo good.
In commute, 400 pages into the last Mongoliad. MUCH better than Vol 2, on account of the Rome storyline actually seeming to maybe go somewhere this time.

Read and finished two books today - Airborn by Kenneth Oppel which is a simple fun YA story which I read as it has airships and exploration in it
and
Sleeping Giant by Sylvain Neuvel - I highly recommend this book. Extremely intense exciting read

Finished Part 3 of FoL. so much goodness.
Also in the last 100 pages of Mongoliad. Conclusions are unfolding. Not sure which side I want to win- too many likeable people on both sides. The Rome story went WTF again.

Yep. Prepare to look at it every other paragraph at some pts until atleast pg 130 something. After all those info dumps the predictable/simple story will start moving along. As I said it's almost laughable story telling but it's just been fun to read.
It says Safehold is under Earth size like 10 pgs in but Weber states on his site he can expand as he goes. I'm curious if he does indeed add more land as it goes. I plan to find out! I've got bks 1-3.

Since I have read a lot of Weber, I know his infodump and straightforward style, but sometimes simplicity is good you know, when you just want to relax and not think too much. Plus it will all turn into military stuff eventually and that is just gratifying popcorn for me.

As distracting as the narrator was in Prince of Suck (sounded like SNL Will Farrell character) the book was a helluva lot of fun. So I just bought book 4, Suck My Cosmos. Keeps me smiling and that's a good thing.

20% done with Black Sun Rising. I like it, but some of the chapters seem to drag and then something happens that sparks my interest.

Finished FoD re-read finally, and definitely enjoyed it more this time (and understood more).
Rounding the last section of MOVING PICTURES by Pratchett and it's been a fun ride through the Discworld movie industry. Detritus is the standout (obviously). Although I never thought I'd see Dibbler in more than a supporting role, it's interesting.
Not sure what I'll pick up next from the ToRead pile.

1000 TRAMPLING ELEPHANTS!!
I laughed every time the elephants came up...or when they shot the same camel in front of the camera 100 times...an army attack in single file.

Yeah its a great pastiche of old holywood.
Bwanas!
And yet beneath it all he, as usual, manages to cock a well aimed snook at the modern world and its terrible obsessions.

If you haven't read Soul Music yet, it's very similar to Moving Pictures but, you know, music. Just as good too.

I'm filling out the holes in the series that I haven't read going mostly in order. I think next up are REAPER MAN and LORDS AND LADIES and SOUL MUSIC is after that. Good to know that it's in a similar vein to MP.
