Eddings at least has the charme of nostalgia because I read the Elenium books ages ago and enjoyed a recent reread at a time when I wanted some brain candy.

Alison Weir's The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Apparently Martin Luther read Henry's book denouncing his Lutheran doctrine and accused him of "raving like a strumpet in a tantrum." Insult goals, right there!

As I was hopping between the various Chapters locations in Toronto today, I finished "Corum: The Prince with the Silver Hand". Review will be in the Moorcock thread.

Next commute book- the Last Merchant Princes omnibi volume, "Revolution Trade". Hoping Stross can finish strong after the uneven second set.

At home, about halfway through Tim Lebbon's "Fallen". Loving it so far.

Finished "Fallen". VERY cool story, sheds some light on why one of the places in "Dusk-Dawn" is as important as it is.

Overall, Lebbon does tension really well, and he's able to throw awesome twists into a typical questing story. Very nice little page-turner, I'll deffo have to hunt down the other 2 Noreela books when I get the chance.

Anyone who likes authors who do bad things to their characters should really check Tales of Noreela out. If you think Bakker is bad, it's nothing compared to "Dusk"

Now I really AM gonna start the FoD re-read. but first I'll have to get back to my project of "reading Gunslinger in French". I've been slacking on that the past few weeks, due to having take a lot of work home.

Not tosh at all, but utter setup, except for a bit at the end that's mostly Garion avoiding people doing the real fighting. QUEEN OF SORCERY is when stuff gets fun.

In the last lap of Gordon's "Rules of the Game" and I have to say this is an excellent book if you want to understand why Jutland turned out as it did. The author goes into a lot of detail and backstory but for any history/military/navy buffs thats a good thing as he maps out institutional and cultural factors that were very important. I think I am going to read a history of Edwardian England later just to confirm a few hunches I have.

Started a A Shadow in Summer yesterday and am already halfway through. I see a lot of parallels to Abraham's more recent Dagger and Coin series - Cithrin and Amat are pretty interchangeable. That's not really a downside.

The worldbuilding has been on point so far. The andat and the rules surrounding them are ingenious.

Seedless reminds me a bit of Jemisin's Nahadoth.

Enjoy the mindfuck. "Cure for Cancer" is the strangest one of the 4 in every way. "English Assassin" is just awesome, whilst "Condition of Muzak" is ALL THE THINGS.

Started the FoD re-read. Since the recent debacle with FoL publishing date being pushed back to May, but me having a pre-order that's suppposed to arrive in April, I now have no idea when to expect the book.

Figured I'll read a chapter a night and that should space itself out nicely for a bit.
Started Chapter 1 and already floored (again!) by all the "new" info, when compared to MBOTF. I think I'm gonna be making brief notes as I go in case I finish a few weeks before FoL comes out and I read something else in between.

Amazon.ca and kobo both say apr 21 for the ebook, may 24 for the hb.
