Yeah, I read Assassin's Apprentice or whatever her first FitzChivalry book was called, and didn't really see what the hubbub was about - haven't read anything else by her...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Just finishing up Midnight Tides and I think its the best in the series so far, made me laugh out loud a lot! I just love Tehol and Bugg and somehow it seems there must be much more to Bugg then has been revealed thus far! This series just seems to get beter and better! :)

Heh. Just you wait. :) :D

Bleh. While I am enjoying the Rainmaker, I find it highly annoying, in that the main character (Rudy Baylor) is a very irritating, sassy, wisecracking (but nor very funny), cynical boring person! Anyone else read it/found this to be the case?

I just finished the forthcoming David Forbes book, THE AMBER WIZARD.

The author offers us a solid effort. Like Brandon Sanderson last year, David Forbes shows a lot of potential, and could well become one of the bright new voices in the fantasy genre. Which is why I'm happy to have the opportunity to help generate some interest for his upcoming fantasy novel. There's a copy of the book up for grabs on the blog, if anyone is interested! ^_^ And there are also 4 copies of Paul Kearney's THE MARK OF RAN to be add!

I read Blood Follows in a day. Have moved onto The Healthy Dead, which I started and fell asleep reading. Not cos it was boring but cos I was exhauted from the day... I shall restart it at some point in the very near future...

just finished first of the farseer trilogy, and despite what a fair few people think, i enjoyed it. Its risky business basing a novel (even more for a series) from the viewpoint of a singular character, if you dont like the character the series is pretty much buggered for you, but i quite liked the depth of character she explored in fitz. The world building and history leaves a little bit to be desired and the ending seemed to be pretty much an afterthought but on the whole it had me intrigued and i hope the next two keep it up.

Finished Jeff Vandermeer's wonderful latest novel, Shriek: an Afterword, a return to one of the exceptional fantasy settings in fantastic fiction, Ambergis - great book but one of my favorite fantasy writers.

Right now I'm starting Elantris by Brandson Sanderson, I was supposed to get this book last year, and finally just received it. This is a rare standalone epic fantasy nvoel, and Sanderson's debut. It was getting some buzz, but most people lI talked to (who's taste I tend to respect) said it was okay - not great. I'm glad to finally be able to decide for myself:)

Recently, I put up my review of R. Scott Bakker's third and final installment of his Prince of Nothing sequence --a mindblowing series -- The Thousandfold Thought.

After making way through Elantris I'm hoping to move into Douglas Lain's latest, a collection entitled Last Week's Apocalypse

Oh my goodness... Night of Knives is unbelievable! It's like reading a new MBOTF book for the first time... I miss that feeling... ICE has done a wonderful job in this book. I should be finished in the next day or two. ^_^

you're not serious are you tiste me old mucker? i didnt think the story was too bad but the writing style made me want to beat myself up... a lot... with metal bars. I also thought focussing so much on a terribly poor character (guess which one? ^_^) was a bad idea. im praying that SE injects ice with some of his blood before he writes Crimson guard, otherwise it could be a big dissapointment *crosses ALL possible body parts*

I never thought it was that bad... sure it will never be as good as the uber-pwnage meister himself, but you know it's still good, imnsho.

I just finished The Thousandfold Thought by R Scott Bakker and I found that story to be .....hummn how shall I say this... harder to read then a lot of stories but at the same time it was without a doubt some of the best fantasy I have read to date. Very meaty and takes a while to chew on but I liked it for that reason and more.

After that I had a few David Gemmell books I read and they were nice after reading such a complicated story like The Prince of Nothing. Next on my list is Tad Williams The Stone of Farewell. I read Memory, Sorrow, Thorn in the complete wrong order starting with To Green Angel Tower then the Dragon Bone Chair and now The Stone of Farewell simply because I could not find them in any other order, if that makes any sense at all.

I have the Bonehunters on order and I can't wait to get to it.

Oh and a friend recommended Paul Kearney's The Mark of Ran and I have it on my list as well! ^_^

no no i like temper (he's dassem's boy :)) but i thought kiska was a very weak character, cant go into details here but just her character development was poorly done i thought. It doesnt please me in the slightest to be critical of NOK, but seen as i paid 28 hard earned shiny pound coins for it i guess my expectations were high as a kite on class A's.....

and as me and the good lord dont see eye to eye at the mo, if you could ask him on my behalf to sort out ICE's writing style in time for ROTCG id be much obliged ^_^

Just got A Feast For Crows out from the library. It had best be at least a bit satisfying after lugging the massive thing all the way home.
