Grr... Some of us would be lucky to read it for the first time...

As a light side read, I read "The World according to Clarkson" by (three guesses) Jeremy Clarkson for the second time. Very funny, but now I will go onto Emperor - Gates of Rome. For the first time.

Emperor: Gates of Rome was bloody amazing!! I am currently reading Emperor: The Death of Kings, and that is shaping up to be just as good!
I dunno how many he's written, but I know of two more: Field of Swords and Something of the Gods... (Can't remember what it is of the Gods... I could look it up but am too lazy)
Does anyone know which one comes next?

Just finished Scott Westerfeld's duology consisting of 'The Risen Emperor' and 'The Killing of Worlds'...excellent space opera, I want more. Speaking whereof, 'Absolution Gap' by Alistair Reynolds was a terrible disappointment, an absolute letdown of an ending to a great series. About to start Andrea Levy's 'Small Island'.

Finished The Death of Kings.
My mission is now to read the entire "A Song of Ice and Fire" series for the second time, this time including "A Feast for Crows" before BH comes out...

Yeah... I decided to read either "Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell" by Suzanna Clark, or reread "The Ninja" by Eric Van Lustbader. After going to uni today and finding out what is expected of me, I have decided I'm not going to get much reading done at all over the next few weeks...

I'm reading The Thousandfold Thought - book three of R. Scott Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy. I've been at the home-stretch for a while, but I couldn't bring myself to read it, in case it didn't hold up - like Lord of the Rings didn't. But I'm going to finish it tonight.

After which, I'm going to re-read A Game of Thrones, then A Clash of Kings, then A Storm of Swords. Then inch into either The Bonehunters or A Feast For Crows... the choices!

Hi guys!

After reading the previous two volumes of The Tears of Artamon trilogy, I was curious to see how it would all end. Although the series suffers from a number of shortcomings, there were enough positive aspects to maintain my interest. Unfortunately, Children of the Serpent Gate is not the sort of climax I was eager for. Far from it, actually. . .

And I felt that the "all is well that ends well" sort of ending was lackluster. The fact that the scenes leading to the finale are rushed and lack substance doesn't help matters. Sadly, it doesn't bring the series to what I feel like is a satisfying close.

The Tears of Artamon showed some promise. Yet it doesn't live up to that promise, at least not in every facet of the story. Still, it is good and interesting enough to please young fantasy fans, especially those readers relatively new to the genre.

Meh. I decided to completely ignore everything I said, and am reading the Rainmaker by John Grisham. I started it before the summer, never finished it and am restarting again. I like his books.

Just started Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb. I wasn't very impressed by her Farseer serie (or whatever it is called) but everyone is just going on about what a good writer she is, so I try again and hope this book is better than the previous ones.

I've heard this is really good. Let us know what you think after reading!

I just finished A Feast for Crows. Will now go back to Hyperion...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

THe library wants my copy back, but I keep telling myself I want to know what happens...but I cant find the lust to keep reading. I seem to get tired of fantasy novels constrained to a few select personal points of view... it ends up being too much like a soap opera. I hopw you have a good experience. I for one will return that book from whence I borrowed it :D...as soon as I find the time!

Still on MoI, but also reading the Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad (second time) - briliant litterature :D (and the penguin cover makes one look sophisticated when you try to read it while your mates are getting frinks/going to the gents :))
