master and commander?-better than the movie I hope

Reading hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, I think its terrible. Some few one liners were funny other than that the humour is over the top.

But you see, that was just it. It was so obviously NOT a product of the culture. It was like, everyone who was a Good character wanted to protect the poor widdle chyllldrun, but everyone who did not was Bad.

It felt really tacked-on and preachy. Oh well. I've heard his other work is good, but I've never seen any of it in stores.

i finished the mallorean a few days ago ... am now in a between-book-limbo while i clean my room and look for the books i need for uni. might cave in tonight and read some Feist though.

@cal - i didn't find that, i really enjoyed all of them. I'm a bit wary of trying his 'Avalon' book though. has anyone read it? is it any good?

Well I do not wish to stray from the topic too far so I will just mention that a long and protracted siege occupying most of the story is exactly the story I am writing atm! Posted Image Quite a challenge to keep the story lively at times but I agree it is overlooked too often.

Anyway, still reading The Warrior-Prophet and thoroughly enjoying the unexpected twists and turns. After that, it's gonna have to be The Iliad.

Half way through and it's very witty so far, one review in the back says "Pythonesque...quirky, deadpan and quietly unhinged". Seems about right to me!
