the capitalist world doesn't work that way.
Book cover artists are poorly paid (otherwise the book would cost much more) so they do the best they can as swiftly as they can. They have to eat after all.

In Hollands and belgium only the first to books were published (and afterwards discarded due to lack of succes, too expensive, maybe that's it), but they reworked the covers and they were quite stylish, as form most of their translations... so it's not really necessary... I hope

That's actually a pretty cool rendition of Raest versus the dragons - it's a little freaky, but I like it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I feel sorry for Paran, having that guy for a housemate.
That's what I'd like to see, some portraits of Raest and Ganoes pottering around the kitchen & drinking iced tea.

Well, Raest was practically a rotted corpse. And these look crazy.

He was conserved in ice, the omtose aspect, in russia the have found intact mammoths in the ice, so i reckon Raest would be nicely preserved, no?

He was described as desiccated(sp?) in the book, I guess it's close.

Plus when he has actually fighting the dragons:-
A pretty accurate depiction in that cover if you ask me.
But also you remember that "Iceman" they dug up/found in the Alps a fair few years back? His body was really withered and shrunken, even though he had been totally encased in ice since he died and that was only the last Ice Age. I got the impression that Raest had been imprisoned a lot longer than that.
Quote
Raest's flesh had been torn away, ravaged by the virulent power of the dragons. Power that burst from their jaws like breath of fire. His brittle yellow bones were splintered, crushed and shattered.

(NOTE; I didn't read all 6 pages before posting.)
Those Netherlandish (- Dutch, whatever) aren't that bad.
But the US versions Just Suck. I suppose they didn't really count on people actually judging the4 book by its cover. I'd be automatically turned off from that sort of thing. Moreover, I'd NEVER dare read it in public! People'd label me as one of the "Warhammer" crowd, and as much as I don't really give a damn what strangers think of me, there are limits.
I assume part of the reason they don't just use the UK covers is that they'd have to pay royalties on the coverart, and for some reason they think people who enjoy tMBotF actually enjoy that kind of, if I may use the term loosely, "art".

The sad part is, they probably DID count on that, which tells you what they think of potential SE readers in the US...
At least the US MoI cover is good...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Plus, the UK cover is obviously Rake outside Pale, but what is the US one? At what point in the story does Sorry pout while leaning against Whiskeyjack's horse? Sorry doesn't need anyone protecting her;)
ok i admit the author and artist both said it is Whiskeyjack and Sorry, but when did a lowly sergeant, famous as he is, get armor and a horse like that???
and for the UK version i have always thought it was Adjunct Lorn outside Darujhistan unleashing her otataral sword and directing the Jaghut Tyrant...Oo
