How do all!

Happy New Year to everyone, this year will mark the 19th year I've been haunting these forums. Hoping it's a better year for everyone regardless of how 2022 was.

So, onto the topic at hand: what are your New Years resolutions? Are you going to keep to them? Do you even bother? Aren't we all just puppets in a cruel game Abyss is playing anyway?

For me, this is a big one and I don't know if I can manage it, support is required!

I, Tiste Simeon, will not be buying a book in 2023.

Yup, you read it right. I'm not going to buy a book, whether in paper or e-book format. Audible is slightly different due to it being subscription based and the credits are there anyway, so I won't be counting the audiobook realm. But otherwise, my aim is to make a huge dent in my TRP which is quite massive at present. I'm going to catalog my upcoming books on a Google list and cross them off once read to mark the progress. And I won't be adding to it!

I reckon I'll make it at least a couple of months weeks days!

My new years resolution will be to figure out this "Work life balance" thing I hear people talk about.

I don't really have much of a life but work is messing with my "me time". Mostly my "couch potato deluxe" life style.

My resolutions are the following:

1) to put down alcohol for three months - minus one weekend in February; it's for weight loss purposes and will be combined with good usage of a squat cage

2) to save up two separate funds - one for two bigger purchases I have in mind (a good kitchen table + chairs, a collectible item I want) and for a house purchase in a couple years

3) to go date fun people - those who are genuinely happy to be themselves (even if job or another component of life isn't the best) and those who are happy to be around me; I can easily supply these dynamics myself and look forward to easier times in romantic relationships than my now dissolved marriage (and no feckin abuse being directed my way)

4) to get my dog to be significantly more comfortable around other large dogs in public (will require steady training and regular exposure)

5) to trade in a specific one of my volunteer obligations for something more fitting to my talent and general outlook; the founder of the organization died in late 2021 and his was the vision and action plan I agreed with, not the more milquetoast letter writing campaign of his successor; I also don't want to run the organization as I can't devote that much time to it

Cheers to all - we can make healthy progress towards our goals!

I resolve to make a new friend. What with covid and all I have become a homebody and I need to remedy this.

Happy New Year all.

I resolve to do the same as I successfully have every other year: not make any resolutions. ;)

I'll need to figure this out. The past year was a traniwreck due to the war basically dominating the time I wasn't distracted with work or active leisure, and then towards the end of the year the new house also took up residence in that "always in the back of your mind" section of my brain.

I have a full week off work to sort out my thoughts and try to figure out what I'm doing in my non-work life.

I usually make the same joke as Sombra. But in 2022 I got fitter without resolving to do so. I found a convenient local yoga class and went every week and ended the year stronger than I started it. So in 2023 I'm going to maintain that trajectory and end the year in better shape than I start. I only ever found one other form of exercise I didn't actively hate and yoga is more convenient and cheaper than riding horses.

Plus I'll keep reducing my footprint on the world. Running out of simple ways to reduce my plastic consumption but I've been rat-proofing my compost bins over the holidays so I can keep composting bread crusts and veg ends!

So how did we all do?

I am fitter. Also slightly fatter! But only slightly so I'm calling it a win given I am rapidly aging 🥴

Well, I nearly did this. I have purchased some Kindle books on offers I couldn't refuse, but I have significantly decreased my TRP and I haven't clogged up my shelves so I'll call it a success!

The year was weird. I'd call it shock/recovery from the adrenaline spike that was 2022.

Feeling surprisingly more lucid and willing to plan for 2024, though. Which is unexpected, but a positive development.

I'm making 40% more than I was in 2021.

I'm heavier than I was, yet happier after the end of a tormented relationship. 2023 was great for me and I wish all good things to you, Malazan Empire.

My goals in 2024 - recover from this plantar fascitis in my foot, get back to grappling, go to either Nepal or Spain, save up for a better house, and get my pup comfortable with the farmer's market dynamic.

Divorced again, but happier than I have ever been. Hard to say if fatter or just same fat, but high hopes for hiking around my new home. Definitely hitting a stride for what I want to be in my life, though, like others of you have said, wishing I wasn't in the body-starting-to-fail part of my life. Hoping to build a RL community in this upcoming year, but still looking for something to join out there.

My stonks continued their ascendancy;
I've been eating five hundred calories
Less each day, and having less acid
Reflux as a likely consequence;
Though I may want to eat more if I start
Lifting again in anticipation
Of an intranasal vaccine in the Fall....
