A new Dresden Files novella just dropped.

The Law

Quote

From the number one New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series, a forthcoming novella that thrusts Chicago’s only professional Wizard, Harry Dresden, back into battle–both a legal one… and the kind with explosions.

Not much detail to go by. Think I'll probably buy it and read it in the weekend.

The customer reviews suggest it takes place after Battle Grounds.

Does Jim talk/apologize about his COVID denial early in 2020 in the forward?

Do you have some sauce for this drama I missed? I can see a tweet about dinosaurs and COVID. And some Facebook post I can't access for some reason.

It's from the Facebook post, but it's been deleted since then as it blew up a bit at the time and was on his friends page...

And I'm cutting the guy some slack since he was going through a second divorce (from Kitty, the RennFaire Corset-designer woman...who he left his first wife for I think?), housing issues with a new build, and a bunch of other life crap....but it boiled down to "this is overblown, do we really need to shut the economy down over this virus, there's no evidence that lockdowns work, it referenced Florida re-opening and being "okay"....it was a microcosm of all the tedious Republican BS "just asking questions" you heard in the early Pandy being repeated by an author I used to like.

I'd just love for him to come out now and say "I spoke too soon, and I was wrong", but it's been covered up like he never got into it and that bothers me.

It was definitely a version of skepticism that he doubled down on in the comments for a while, then took it down, didn't repeat, avoided any serious talk of anything in public etc.

He got COVID a couple months ago I think.

I'll check out The Law in a few months. I wasn't that big a fan of the last short story, I think.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

The last short was the Toot solo, which I thought was pretty great.
Early comments on this one, and Butcher's earbook narration, are fairly mid.
It's Dresden, so I'll get to it sooner or later.

I hope not.

If I would only ever know that he did such a thing from following his facebook account (which I don't), then I hope he only apologizes about it (if he does) also on his facebook account. Then I can just read the book without ever having to care about his social media one way or another.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
