I got my Tor copy from the local book store when it came out this week in the US and the book is physically quite smaller than a typical Malazan hardcover. The height and width are each around 3/4 of an inch shorter than my Tor copies of Fall of Light and Kellanved's Reach. In fact, GNW matches the smaller size of the Science Fiction Book Club editions I have for some of the MBotF.
How do the Bantam hardcover copies appear in size to previous books? I don't mind the smaller edition, but it's odd.

My Bantam is the same size as all the other UK Hardcovers I've ordered from bookdepository.co.uk.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Erikson did an interview today with Fantasy/Sci-Fi Focus and this topic came up. Apparently it was a surprise to him that the Tor edition was "book club-sized" and he's tried to talk with the publisher about it, but hasn't gotten anywhere with them on it.
