while Naruto characters can be quite powerfull, some of the characters of DBZ can whipe out planets with the wave of a hand. Isn't the whole discussion about as comparable as a Deathstar vs Enterprise scenario?

Wow there, do not compare Star Trek and Star Wars to anime.

Besides the Enterprise is a far more maneuvrable capital ship then those in Star Wars. Also Star Trek weapons are more powerful (ok, the superlaser trumps it, but it takes a whole freaking station for it to work). The Enterprise need only stay on the far side of the Death Star and pound it with Tri-Cobalt devices (which would destroy the Death Star Quickly enough).
As to the turbo laser turrets, they're underpowered compared to Star Trek shields. So yeah.
But if the Death Star did manage to lock onto the Enterprise it would be over, but it is a pretty even match.

yes, yes, yes!

Remember the ST:TNG episode where they were facing like 8 ships with 'lasers' and they just laughed because it would take thousands of shots from those ships to start draining their shields? yea...

Only issue is, I always thought 'proton' and 'photon' torpedo's were about similar in firepower... which means there are a heck of a lot of small starfighters flying around nuking the hell out of the enterprise's shields.

Well it depends, a photon torpedo can level (literaly, no walls left) a city. And that's a class one torpedo, if your talking a class ten... well then things get out of hand really quick.

Besides those fighters would have a hard time, remember that Voyager episode when a bunch of small fighters attack the ship, the Phaser arrays can do multi vector firing simultaneously (sp), and pound those things into atoms.

Dude, I only picked an example out of thin air. I've hardly seen any star trek at all, and never was that big of a star wars fan.. All I was thinking was that the Deathstar is so many orders of magnitude biger than the enterprise, it could easily pummel it with an insane barrage of firepower. The amount of towers dotting it's surface, the massive fighter armada, the doomsday cannon, all in all I would have thought the outcome to be obvious. But as with anime, I'm hardly much of an expert

Just finished watching the second season of Ghost in the Shell.
Pretty good overall. I like the way it all gets tied up at the end not like some TV shows where you have to wait for the next season to find out.

As to how it went.
Likes;
More involvment (backstory) from other members of section 9 was definately a plus. Even having them recruit some noobies was cool as well.
More backstory of the future is revealed.

Things I didn't like;
In comparison to the first one, this one was a little more predictable. while the last 5 or so Episodes in the season were awesome, but if you can keep track of all the different stuff going on at once you can second guess whats going to happen.
That wasn't so much the case in the first season.

Overall it was still pretty awesome.

Yup. The subbers are only up to episode 6 and they seem to be going really slowly. But it's still pretty awesome.

Clannad is okay. I dunno, I guess if you really like romance animes, but Im kinda finding it getting pretty boring now. I think the only reason Im still watching is because it comes out on a slow TV day so I have nothing else to watch lol!

Based on some Japanese RPG, it's a paranormal action series only 3 epis in so not entirely sure at the moment, but it's looking rather cool.

You can find a couple of posts on the first few episodes at http://randomc.anime...tegory/persona/

I'm still dissapointed we didn't get to see the Canon fire. It was like a massive tease.

Saw that one too last week, and the sequel Appleseed: Ex Machina too :o if you haven't seen that one yet and you loved the first one, this one was even better imo :)

Also, are there still some of you here actively watching anime? Am very much catching up on some old series since I'm not watching for that long yet, so have seen quite a hefty amount the past few months :p Death Note reigns supreme sofar, absolutely amazing.

From the new season I like Macross Frontier the best, also following Code Geass R2 (great as well, saw the first season about two months ago and loved it), Mnemosyne and some more.
