Recent events have developed a production window for the dark at the end of april. set materials are on order for delivery april 3. a 'set-raising' party will be held the following weekend (and all are welcome), and if all works out will be live on the web (if not then available for download) to subscribers.
a 30 day countdown will start on April 1.

we have a firm production window for the first 2 episodes for the third week of may and the first, if not both, will be released by the end of the month. i have sold my soul (quite literally) for funding and we have just acquired a very talented comic artist, Gregory Chomichuk, to do storyboarding and comics of the series. there have been slight shifts in personnel, but all casting has been done.
I will post some samples of Greg's work shortly (when i have time to scan the images)

Dear Kallor
Any news on any promotional materials for The Dark yet?
I see they're listed but there are no pics?
If there's t-shirts and stuff available to buy it might help to relieve some of that funding pressure...?

dear hetan,
yes, you're right. the pics are ready and wil be up this weekend, but the level of funding for which i prostituted the remnant dregs of my soul is far more then what we'd make on the t-shirts. now, when greg's images for the dark go up...
still, though, the t-shirts are a hit with cast and crew...i have had all 3 creators in town this week and it's been mad witih meetings and such.
ps...SE says hi

Once The Dark goes fully online, there ought to be a way to get it to show up in a Google search ?
Not entirelly sure what is entailed in that but probably worth checking out.
Another idea (probably mentioned) is to 'solicite' webmasters to add The Dark website link to thier websites. Somehow doubt the major book companies would do this - but certainly web fan sites, etc would.

@gigger...thing is is that i have been reluctant to 'promote' the dark when i wasn't positively sure of a production date (i mean, how many of the fans on here have lost hope about it) but since the site has been up, we have still had over 150,000 hits, so it must be showing up somewhere. as i understand it, showing up in a google search requires a bnote to google and then some well-chosen meta tags, though, as with most things in my life right now, i may well be wrong.
then, of course, my director and art director redesigned the set after i had purchased all the relevant materiel. the new set is much better visually than what i designed ( i was going for simplicity and versatility and of course cheap) but you all will definitely be happier with the changes.
anyway, i'll post more onour forums as i get a chance. the first major pre-production meeting is tomorrow at 2 pm CST and will be live (the gods willing).

Hey Kallor,
I haven't lost hope.
Having done a very limited amount of video production work I totally understand the headaches & hicups involved.
Chin Up - Look forward to the 1st installment (whenever that is).

Is it just me, or is this thing 6 months late and counting?

more than 6 months late, but whatever...this thing has a life of its own...filming starts next weekend for episodes 1 and 2...if i find my finishing money (or if folks register on the site) soon enough, then episode 1 should be good to go around the end of may.

well, the description on rebelspace is certainly intriguing.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Just think baby steps. The fanbase of Erikson still has years ahead of it, and it'll only get larger. Take it at the pace that is required to make it work, and don't give up. We'll be here when all is said and done

Looks great but I can't login! I've requested my password and copied and pasted username (blend) and password, but no luck.
This looks like something I'd really enjoy, but I have a question about the ~1 minute downloads. Are they a part of the longer (12min?) segments or are they separate? I guess I'm an old fart in that I don't have ipods or suchlike and prefer my entertainment in a longer form rather than short quick cuts.

the short (1 min, 45 sec sms bits) pieces will be re-edited exerpts of the longer (12 minute) pieces. the ipod and wap versions will be lower resolution copies of the web version.
