He's been busy the last few days so hasn't been chatting but he did indeed sign up for the game.

Submitted my picks. If I remember last time I played, I selected the Letnev and then ended up being wedged between the two races that seemed specifically designed to counter the Letnev, so I'm presuming something similar happens this time
You're between Morgoth and Tatts, so one of your neighbours will be Sol and the other will be Morgoth. He's always a good neighbour, but maybe a little too good if you know what I mean.
I have fond memories of being Morgoth's neighbour in the very first game. In the last game when we were also neighbours, he did his level best to completely ignore my existence. Don't know why...
If I ignored you, it was only ever an attempt to make you long for me.

I was torn between going for a completely new one and easing myself back in with a race I was a little familiar with. And I want to see if I can play the Saar without going completely off the rails this time.
And I don't know what you're complaining about - in a one-on-one I reckon Titans have Saar beat hands down!

Naaz-Rokha were also among my choices. I'm interested to see how Blend gets on with Empyrean, I got the feeling that they were a tough race to play with.

As I am late getting going I opted to just pick old races. I just started to read the rules pdf that D'rek listed. I have no idea what these leaders or techs or anything do yet. Looks like I have some reading to do tonight.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I am shocked I am Titans. I thought I'd be The Nomads or Yssaril which were my other choices.

The nice thing is that a lot of this new stuff doesn't actually come up right at the start of the game. At the start of the first round, the only two things that are really different from previous games is:
1. you have an Agent - basically an additional faction ability that you can only use once per action phase.
2. You can build mechs - sort of like flagships for infantry, they're ground forces with a unique ability (and you get up to 4 of them)
Worry about that first.
Next thing after that is going to be exploration, which will come up when you take your first planet.
You can worry about new techs when it comes time to actually research, etc.

Well I'm hoping we won't be going at a one on one. It doesn't work for scoring objectives. Go for MecRex like IH did last time, or roll over Morgoth. Both good options!

When you activate a system that has one of your units.. is this before or after the movement step?
Ie the second yellow basic tech

Do you have to gave the new blue tech to explore non planet systems?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

It would happen immediately after you activate the system, ie before the movement step.
