I've not expanded beyond my area either. I've played no hostile action cards. I'm not sure I could get away from scoring the points I've scored. I regret the one round I never.

But what Morgoth said. You became points leader. It happened to me too, that's the nature of the beast. At the end of the day, you've still played a good game AND could still win it.

This move checks the most boxes that I can tell. I had to give up on being able to score 3 possible status phase secret objectives but it added 5 others I can now score. Plus I'm now able to score the structures public objective again despite IHs efforts while at the same time minimizing action cards that would lower my structure count below the minimum.

But it still requires me to win 3 battles. With my mechs in play it should be doable.

Yeah I don't do that but it impresses me when others do. IH does it before he even picks his race and starting position.

I dont usually bother because there are just too many permutations but I felt this was a critical enough move I thought it was worth the effort.

I am mostly the same, I just sorta play by the seat of my pants, though I've realized a few things that I need to pay attention to as a general readiness thing (though that has all changed now with the expansion). I hadn't done any real analysis this game till that post from yesterday where I decided not to go for Twelve's homeworld after all.

You have an inflated view of how much I actually plan. My sum total of planning for this game was looking at the new races, seeing Destroyers with capacity and ignoring nearly everything else.

Does this also include ships that are currently locked down with command counters?

Realized as I was figuring out what to do that I can't get my ships from Bakal/Alio Prima to my home planet, which I was counting without really thinking about it, so now everything has fucking changed again. It's either lose most of those ships and produce a bunch of destroyers at home, or risk going through the Gravity Rift to get them all to Kraag/Siig along with another ship from somewhere. Neither an ideal option, but the 5 ships PO is the only one I have a chance to really score this round I think.
