It's been two video conferences now with nothing that sells me on buying the console Day 1.

Watching the debate about whether or not Halo looked like trash has certainly been entertaining.

Microsoft's got The Medium, Halo, console version of Gears Tactics, the Ascent, and Remedy's Crossfire X campaign (which looks like Crysis, but by Remedy, basically) in the launch window. Plus a fuckton of existing Gamepass games and a bunch of indies (Falconeer, Ori, etc) coming out optimized for Series X. Flight Sim will probably be in the launch window as well (early 2021?)

2021 gonna have Psychonauts 2 (the last major multi-plat commitment Xbox's new studios had), probably Forza (Turn 10 is a machine), Scorn, etc.



Sony's major 1st party offerings (so far) are GT and Miles Morales for launch. That's why they had to moneyhat Deathloop and Kena, because aside of Spider-man expandalone, they're also pretty bare. I'm surprised they aren't rolling out stuff like Lost Soul Aside or WILD- the gen shift would be a perfect time to give these some exposure. All those indie games are actually cross-gen. The only 3rd party Sony game that straight up said next gen only was Godfall, I think. Deathloop and Ghostwire aer coming to PS5, but I'm not sure if they wond end up being playable on the 1 afterwards.

I gotta say, as much as E3 has lost its mojo over the years, it was at least still good for better hype then this Summer of blah, meh, eh...zzzzzzzzz.

Not a whole lot there. Glad to see Anno Mutationem is alive (and also got a Steam page). That leaves only a couple more of those China Joy/ China Hero Project PS4 games without a confirmed PC version.

Godfall got A TON of screen time, and.... it doesn't look great. It has a very strong Darksiders II vibe, though (a game that actually did the "hack'n'slash + loot" formula really, really well), so I'm a tiny bit curious nonetheless- against my better judgement.

Focus Home revealed that the new Sumo Digital game is a PvPvE multiplayer heist game, with a Robin Hood theme. eeeehh... I am ambivalent about that.

Spelunky 2, Alan Wake DLC got release dates; Hitman trilogy will be playable in PSVR, so that's pretty cool, I guess.

Next supposed big even is the WB FanDome on Aug 22nd.

Godfall initially got me to sit up and take notice. The hype attached to it being the first PS5 game was a contributing factor, for sure. But then the trailer that they showed earlier in the summer... eh, I didn't find it all that interesting and wasn't all that impressed. My excitement has dropped precipitously. I will still keep tabs on it as release approaches and see where it lands with trusted video game review journalists, but yeah, not enthusiastic about it as things lay right now.

Watched the Godfall portion of that video (ha! maybe should do that first, yeah?). I didn't hate what I saw and it makes me feel more positive about the game. Still gots me some doubts, but will be staying tuned in.

Godfall's gameplay certainly doesn't look a tenth as cool as the original reveal trailer with badass animalistic knight facing off against a sky hydra.

Nothing in that showcase really caught my interest. I feel like, with E3 cancelled, they should have dropped these 1 hour shows and instead just done daily or weekly reveals of individual games with trailers but also a solid chunk of gameplay + some developer interviews. They have so much time and these small trailers do so little to sell the game.

So WB is hosting a DC FanDome digital convention this weekend.

On Saturday in 2 separate half-hour panels they will be presenting "Batman: Gotham Knights" and "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League".

It would appear that neither the rumoured Harry Potter game, nor Monolith's next project (Matrix?) will be shown off there.

Damn, I would love to see more about that, shit looked craycray. You can still find the leaked footage in scary places of the dark web. Better have them "Expelliarmus" type charms ready to go if you decide to seek it out.

I mean randos on the interwebs can say whatever random stuff they want. Bioware currently has one of their studios doing an 'Anthem 2.0' effort - and its getting close-ish to be done. We'll see where that lands, but it's certainly looking better than what is there now, even if I found Anthem a very fun game, it has some deficiencies in a lot of the systems that support the gameplay loop that they seem to be addressing.

I really doubt they would sacrifice the Dragon Age brand and move away from a single player focused game, especially with the success of the new Star Wars title.
