'BREAKING: ACU Confirms a CPAC Attendee Tested Positive for Coronavirus, Now Under Quarantine

The infection occurred prior to the conference, meaning the attendee had the virus while at the conference.

[...] ACU states that the attendee did not come in contact with President Trump or Vice President Pence, both of whom attended CPAC, and adds that the attendee did not join the main sessions in the primary ballroom.'

President Wilson shut up the press and locked up political foes as he dealt with a war and a public health crisis. Trump, so far, only talks about it.'

'Democrats are about twice as likely as Republicans to say the coronavirus poses an imminent threat to the United States, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted this week.

And more Democrats than Republicans say they are taking steps to be prepared, including washing their hands more often or limiting their travel plans.

[...] Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh told listeners last week that, "The coronavirus is the common cold" and was merely being "weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump."

https://www.reuters....z8k-N8OqqZe80iA

'At the start of an outbreak the apparent mortality rate can be an overestimate if a lot of mild cases are being missed. But this week, a WHO expert suggested that this has not been the case with Covid-19. Bruce Aylward, who led an international mission to China to learn about the virus and the country's response, said the evidence did not suggest that we were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. If borne out by further testing, this could mean that current estimates of a roughly 1% fatality rate are accurate. This would make Covid-19 about 10 times more deadly than seasonal flu, which is estimated to kill between 290,000 and 650,000 people a year globally.'

'W.H. Overruled Experts Over Guidelines for Elderly Travelers

The Trump administration didn't want to tell vulnerable travelers not to fly over the coronavirus.

[...] the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had submitted a plan to try to control the spread of the potentially deadly disease, but White House officials ordered the air travel recommendation to be removed. [...] On Saturday, Pence instead changed the message. "If you're a senior citizen with a serious underlying health condition, this would be a good time to practice common sense and to avoid activities including traveling on a cruise line," Pence said.'

'Surgeon General to Jake Tapper: Trump Is "Healthier" Than I Am

After Surgeon General Jerome Adams advised on State of the Union Sunday morning that older Americans and those with underlying medical issues should "think very carefully" before taking long flights or going into big crowds, CNN host Jake Tapper reminded him that all three men currently running for president—Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump—fall into that at least one if not both of those categories. "Should those three stop traveling? Should they stop holding rallies?" Tapper asked.

[...] "But speaking of being at risk, the president, he sleeps less than I do and he's healthier than what I am," the surgeon general, who is in his mid-40s, insisted.

Later in the interview, Adams refused to give Tapper even a "rough estimate" of how many Americans have been tested for coronavirus to date before signing off with the words, "Facts over fear, Jake."'

Wouldn't it be ironic if CPAC was ground zero for a big outbreak?

Mostly it would be tooth-grindingly frustrating and upsetting because it's so unnecessary. All these people getting sick and unable to get adequate access to healthcare and losing their jobs, if not their lives, while their fellow countrymen genuinely believe they have the best healthcare system in the world.

It's soul destroying.

'Matt Gaetz Suggests That Drinking A Bunch Of Alcohol Can Kill The Coronavirus

"[wearing a gas mask] Members of Congress are human petri dishes. We fly through the dirtiest airports. We touch everyone we meet. So if anyone's gonna get coronavirus, it's totally gonna be Congress.

[...] In my experience, the things you consume on spring break will typically kill the coronavirus,” Gaetz, who wore a gas mask while voting Wednesday, responded when asked by TMZ if people should cancel their spring break plans in his home state of Florida.'

Is this so they can pray the virus away?

Sorry, couldn't think of a synonym for virus that rhymed with pray. :(

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

'An [East] Asian man is clinging to life after he was stabbed more than a dozen times while wearing a surgical mask in a Brooklyn attack that is being probed as a possible coronavirus-related hate crime, police sources said.

Li Qianyang, 48, was walking on 8th Avenue around 7:11 p.m. Saturday when an unknown assailant — also wearing a medical mask, as well as orange gloves — stalked up behind him and stabbed him 13 times in the back, head, arms, and chest before fleeing, police said.

One of the thrusts of the knife struck the victim in his heart, a police source said Sunday.

The attacker "was on top of him stabbing him," the source told The Post.

"Asians have been getting harassed over the coronavirus, just like with SARS," a police source said, referring to the 2003 outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.'

''Take your f****** coronavirus back home': Woman knocked unconscious during racist attack on friend
Meera Solanki knocked unconscious by stranger after defending Chinese friend from virus abuse

But while she was enjoying the night out, her friend Mandy Huang was verbally abused by a stranger, who shouted "take your f***ing coronavirus back home".

When Ms Solanki tried to get between the aggressive man and her friend, she was punched in the face by the attacker and knocked unconscious.

Detectives from West Midlands Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with the incident.

"The attacker is described as [South] Asian"'

'White House Staff Fear for Trump's Health After Handshake With Man Exposed to Coronavirus

[...] a photo emerged of the president shaking hands with Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union'

https://www.thedaily...report?ref=home

'Trump Shakes Supporters' Hands Amid Coronavirus Fears

Trump spent much of his Monday morning downplaying concerns about the novel coronavirus outbreak, going so far as to approach a group of supporters and shake their hands. [...]
prompting Fox News anchor Jon Scott to express a bit of shock.

"In an era when shaking hands is a no-no for many people, the president is not showing any concerns about that at all," Scott noted as the network aired the footage. "He is glad-handing this entire rope line." During a Fox News town hall last week, Trump said that if "there was ever a time that you could convince people not to shake hands this would be it," but added that he wouldn't shun his supporters' greetings.'

https://www.thedaily...-fears?ref=home

'White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham similarly downplayed concerns about Donald Trump’s health on Fox & Friends.

Asked [...] if Trump would continue to hold campaign rallies during the coronavirus outbreak despite warnings about older Americans avoiding crowds, Grishman said, “Yes, he plans on still holding rallies.”

[...] this man who doesn't sleep and who I have seen work 15, 16 hours a day every day, I have no problem thinking that he is going to be just fine and just healthy,” she continued.'

'US priest who shook hands with more than 500 worshippers has coronavirus

Several hundred people have been ordered to self-quarantine after the rector of a prominent church in Washington DC was confirmed as the city's first coronavirus patient.'

https://www.independ...obox=1583770593

It seems I was right to wear a respirator on public transport:

'The coronavirus that causes Covid-19 can linger in the air for at least 30 minutes and travel up to 4.5 metres – further than the "safe distance" advised by health authorities around the world, according to a study by a team of Chinese government epidemiologists.

[...] at around 37C (98F), it can survive for two to three days on glass, fabric, metal, plastic or paper.

[...] Aerosols are light-weighted particles that are formed from tiny droplets of bodily fluids.

"The possible reason is that in a completely enclosed space, the airflow is mainly driven by the hot air generated by the air conditioning. The rise of the hot air can transport the virus-laden droplets to a greater distance," said the paper.

[...] It is [had been?] generally believed that the airborne transmission of Covid-19 is limited because the tiny droplets produced by patients will quickly sink to the ground.

[...] China requires closed circuit television cameras to be installed on all long-distance buses, which provided valuable footage for researchers to reconstruct the spread of the virus on the bus, whose windows were all closed.

[...] The researchers also found that none of those passengers in the two buses who wore face masks were infected.

[...] "When riding on more closed public transportation such as subways, cars, planes, etc, you should wear a mask all the time, and at the same time, minimise the contact between your hands and public areas, and avoid touching your face before cleaning," they said.'

https://www.scmp.com...WrKxJ0y_Gj_s__I

(How can they be sure the other passengers contracted the virus on the bus, though?...)
