If it comes round to me again, I'm going to pick whatever starting position is left, I think #4?
Will pick race once everyone else has picked.

Anyway, it's Blend's game, he can do what he want. I just don't think the first post was very clear about this. I'll go with the safest choice and play Sol. Khell's pick now.
Shall we wait to see if Blend can resolve this? I don't really mind either way, but I too thought it would go back to Morgoth.
Ya it's fine, go ahead.

We've always played the snake variety, mostly because some races have been considered much stronger than others, and also you get to tailor your race to your starting position. Though, as you said D'rek, it does open for hard counters. If it's any consolation, I have no intention of picking a hard counter to anything. I have three races in mind, and will pick one of those if they're available.

Though, I guess it makes more sense in a custom built map where staring positions will be unbalanced to some degree.

Well, in case it is my turn, I will take Naalu.

Sol back once more, the only faction to be present in every game I think? Glad to see the Naalu back. Mind Snakes are lots of fun, especially when they're not my neighbours.

Definitely meant for it to be a snake draft. Sorry that wasnt clear!

All factions will be in game. When we get to the faction selection phase, we will choose them and starting locations like we did last game. I'll randomize the player list to create a table order. First player chooses either race, starting location or speaker token, then 2nd and so on until we reach the end, then last player will choose whichever they haven't chosen yet and we go back to the start. If only the Speaker token is left at the end, then it goes to a random player, otherwise whatever is left goes to whichever player chose the speaker token.
Isn't it back to Morgoth?
I think he intended it to be a snake draft which is the fairest method.
Whaaaat? How is that most fair? I get last pick of starting spots *and* I have to pick my race first so my neighbours can easily hard-counter me, while Morgoth gets first pick and sees his neighbour picks before picking his race?
Huh, guess I hadn't put much thought into the race selection process. All very good points. As a middle player it doesn't make much difference to me which way it goes but with Gnaw and my history it would be nice to know what he picks before I do but will still go for one of the two races I had in mind for the slice I picked.
Our history is history hopefully. The one disadvantage of the 9 player map is a couple of people get squeezed pretty hard on their starting spots. Not so here.

Just in case you guys have not seen the Mafia forum, a game sign-up is actually getting a little bit of traction over the last day - five signed up so far if any of you are interested.
Gah. I can’t. New dog, new house, modding plus playing TI just doesn’t leave room for mafia right now.

Should have just picked Saar instead of seeing what my neighbours pick, they look like the most fun

Mainly didn't because I expect Morgoth to pick Yin, and didn't want my deathball to die to Morgoth's flagship!

Speaking of which, we should probably all take a quick look through the new version of the living rules reference. I expect a lot of little mini bits of confusion like the Yin flagship will be answered.
