IH, we are destined to be neighbours in all games.

We weren't neighbours game one! But it does seem we are thrown together a lot.

Dont forget to also choose your race please as you are last in line!

Have to say I'm surprised spot #2 lasted so long, on my preliminary look at the board it was the most attractive spot!

All factions will be in game. When we get to the faction selection phase, we will choose them and starting locations like we did last game. I'll randomize the player list to create a table order. First player chooses either race, starting location or speaker token, then 2nd and so on until we reach the end, then last player will choose whichever they haven't chosen yet and we go back to the start. If only the Speaker token is left at the end, then it goes to a random player, otherwise whatever is left goes to whichever player chose the speaker token.
Isn't it back to Morgoth?

It's the poorest overall slice if you don't look at the contested WH planets - a net 9 res+inf useable each round (versus the highest being #5 with a net 12 res+inf). I guess that deterred people. Or just not wanting to be next to Morgoth, apparently

Slice 6 has decent influence and with so many 2 planet systems it will be easy to score control 6 non Homewood systems and is easily in striking distance of control 4 planets of the same trait. I'm also not playing as the Winnu so won't be playing at a dweak starting position

I think he intended it to be a snake draft which is the fairest method.

Whaaaat? How is that most fair? I get last pick of starting spots *and* I have to pick my race first so my neighbours can easily hard-counter me, while Morgoth gets first pick and sees his neighbour picks before picking his race?

I agree, this method of picking seems to heavily favour Morgoth, hence why I grabbed the speaker token so I could see what races my neighbours picked.
I don't think a snake draft makes sense for this, picking race 1st is a disadvantage, not an advantage,

I'd say there is an advantage to it as well, as you know what slice you have and what race would flourish in that segment. I'd pick a certain race in certain spots but not in others.

Sure, but we all know our slices now, don't we. When you're guaranteed a pick from at least 12 different factions, you're always going to pick slice first over faction.

Depends on what you want really. Are you saying you don't mind choosing between what's left of 7 races after 5 others have been picked?
(I think we did snake last time)

There's 17 races. After 5 players choose, there'll still be 12 left. I will definitely be able to find a race I'm happy with from amongst 12 picks and certainly won't mind. But the opposite scenario - getting one of the worst slices and then picking, say, Yin only for my neighbours to pick Xxcha and L1z1x (both of which majorly counter Yin) would be annoying, wouldn't it?

Anyway, it's Blend's game, he can do what he want. I just don't think the first post was very clear about this. I'll go with the safest choice and play Sol. Khell's pick now.

Huh, guess I hadn't put much thought into the race selection process. All very good points. As a middle player it doesn't make much difference to me which way it goes but with Gnaw and my history it would be nice to know what he picks before I do but will still go for one of the two races I had in mind for the slice I picked.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Shall we wait to see if Blend can resolve this? I don't really mind either way, but I too thought it would go back to Morgoth.

Just in case you guys have not seen the Mafia forum, a game sign-up is actually getting a little bit of traction over the last day - five signed up so far if any of you are interested.
