That Shenmue III acting was 'cheeseTASTIC'. Actually, I enjoyed it, oddly enough.

I'm sure it will be good in it's own way, but a part of me mourns that the guy who directed/developed the first two Assassin's Creed games has been stuck developing some obscure monkey simulator for the past 5-10 years.

Excited for Telling Lies. I loved Her Story. As a person who works with information retrieval this kind of stuff is a delight.

Buckle up buttercup!
BALDUR'S GATE III!
[EDIT] ah poop. No new footage or even trailer of cinematic. Just a bunch of talking about it. Same for BL3. I wanted to see with my eyes dammit, not hear talk about it. *sigh Oh well.

I feel like there's generally been a lack of good long gameplay segments at this years conferences.
Anyway I'm trying to decide if I want to stay awake and watch Ubisofts conference. Do I act like an adult and get a healthy 7-8 hours or do I watch the Ubi show and get 5ish hours.
Decisions, decisions.

Why did I click post? Unsure. Oh well..m
Remnant from the ashes is like Darksiders, only 4 person co-op and you're humans. The art state's the same though.
If it's playable solo, maybe.
Griftlands is back, but it's a deck-building Rougelike now? Eeeeh... feels less bad that it's EGS exclusive.
Planet Zoo looks lovely. Not my thing, but totally looks lovely.
-fun fact, almost every major city I visit, I try to visit the zoo. Animals are awesome.
Ooh, Japan? Ah, it's Shenmue 3. After yet another delay.
-oh. So the delay was to arrange for EGS exclusivity. Sigh, damn you, Deep Silver.
-well, gives me more time to play the first 2
What is this? Song of Conquest? A HoMM clone?
That's pretty awesome looking.
Vermintide 2 update..meh
Ooh, a crazy game about performing Mars.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey just doesn't grab me. I'm just not into pre-agriculture historical games. It's a bias.
And now for the EGS showreel.
There's a bunch of cool games from Annapurna. Ah well, they'll have to wait.
There'll be an outcry for the Untitled Goose Game, though.
Auto Chess is... something I don't know about.
I seem to recall this CrisTale game from last year. Looks interesting.
Valfaris looks all right.
Now some Borderlands 3. Break time.
Okay, NOW it's SharkPG time!
-that's pretty funny actually. The concept is ridiculous- GTA, but you are a shark. It's simple in its brilliance
Hey, more Terraria! Not my thing either, but cool.
Okay, another Annapurna game- EGS or not?
Apparently not EGS.
-this interactive fiction genre is something I'm yet to try. Looks interesting though.
-release date soon.
More like Warframe now. Game looks nice enough, but this is just a teaser.
Genesis Noir is the token weird game
Oh, I remember this western stealth thing! RPS showcased it in their Rezzed expo!
All right, Baldur's Gate 3, let's go! Gimme some gameplay details!
-hmm, nope, nada. Sigh, a bit weak way to end it, really.
Still, some cool stuff there. Paradox delivered, and Songs of Conquest looks neat.

Is this Watchdogs? In London?
Hmmm permadeath. I like that has been implemented.

Legion looks really cool. This Driver San Francisco ish character swap system is fascinating. Surely there has to be a limited amount of characters.
Looks very visually impressive as well. Can't wait for for the downgrade controversy.

March. Not fall. Guess it would conflict with Ghost Recon.

Is he pitching a TV show or a game? Show. Sorta "The Office" I guess.

I don't think Clancy's family get anything. He sold the video game rights to Ubi years ago. They wouldn't bother using the brand if they had to pay millions every time they launch a game.

Seems like every company is working towards subscription services to their catalogue of games now. I'd love to know the metrics on this kind of revenue.
I guess in the case of Ubisoft it might work well because they support their games for at least 2-3 years.

Was that it? Weird low key trailer into social media stuff?
Seems like a very front loaded conference.
Night, night, sleepy bed time now.

Apt, I don't think that was worth interrupting your normal sleep schedule. Next year though, you should stay up for all of it.

Ubi: a symphony number. So no Just Dance intro?
Oh, they haven't actually started.
So what do we got? Okay, Legion to start off.
"Government's fucked off and gangs are carving up the boroughs". Not political though. Totes not.
Plenty of guns so far.
Pretty typical stuff, good spider-drone action.
Now, let's see how this "recruitment" works.
Hrrm. I remain unconvinced about this whole "recruiting" thing.
-OH. Okay. So every NPC has a "recruitment quest?" All right, that's brilliant. And kinda similar to what I said earlier about that AssCreed India idea. Only instead of story-reasons and faction-based, it's every NPC as potential recruit.
That's really impressive. Good show, Ubi.
And now for something completely confusing.
And then Rainbow 6 Siege.
Another crossover from ubi. Not surprising.
Now, Breakpoint.
-the main bad guy's an actor with a dog. Impressive.
Fancy trailers, but is there gameplay?
-bunch of talk, and community stuff, but eh. GAAS gonna GAAS.
-terminator? Wtf? AGAIN?
Like, skynet took over E3 confirmed.
Ugh, and now the panda is back.
Or no panda
Okay, something Japanese. For Honor content? Feels like it.
Now, imagine that combat system in a proper single-player game... oh what could have been...
Ooh, something new? There's some kind of infection. Ubi does survival horror?
Oh, it's Rainbow six: Resi Edition. Aka, "Quarantine".
-another co-op game. Based on Siege's mechanics.
And now Division 2 update. Free trial and a content expansion.
Division 2 gets a movie. Okay.
And now the rumoured UbiPass
-or UPlay plus.
I mean, it's pretty expansive. But...14 USD/month? That's pricey.
Still, kills EA access in terms of content.
-aand here's where the Stadia library will come from. That's actually pretty good. More thoughts on this later.
-okay so now the Roller champions thing that got leaked. I've got nothing on this: it's a sports game.
All right, here's Mr. Yves, let's end on something big and fancy.
okay, so a teaser.
That was all right, I guess.
I mean, Ubi is true to their " several new games each E3" rule, so that's that. Watch Dogs 3 is cool. Gods and Monsters may warren further look-see once more info is available. Everything else... kinda meh.

Yeah, I've been saying that ever since they announced breakpoint. Ubi's not gonna release 2 major titles in 2 successive months in the fall.
Ofc then you've got Gods & Monsters followed by WD: Legion back to back in Q1 2020
And holy shit is that quarter packed with releases right now.

Ubisoft seems like they are getting bloated. Heavy lean into television and movies. Risks like that don't usually work out great when it's not your core competency. I can see them shedding some of this effort a few years down the road.

They announced 6 new games, and 2 media partnerships with moneybags called Apple and Netflix.
On top of this they have 2 already announced games deep in development (the space pirates and the regular kind), plus 2 blockbuster franchises we KNOW have AAA games in the pipeline for next gen (AssCreed and Far Cry)
Oh, and 3 ongoing GAAS games that are bringing them good scratch and getting solid support.
I think they've still got their priorities straight. I may not care for a lot of the stuff Ubi do, but they know their audience, and they've got a huge audience.
