I don't think the masses can handle the level of brutality displayed in the malazan series. I would hope that erikson and Esslemont would refuse to water it down.

The brutality us no problem. HBO had been making a living off that for a couple decades.

The CGI budget might be a bigger issue. But that's getting cheaper and CGI looks better every year.

The masses can handle brutality. What they can't handle is complexity.

no...

LATER BOOK EVENTS MODGOD'D AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

? I think not. most of the series is ok, and if the small portion of things that aren't gets watered down, I change my tune I would be fine with that.

Please recall this is the GotM subforum, so don't make mention of events from future books.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Given the fuss about the lack of black characters in GOT and the ones that are on the show either meeting bad endings or being former slaves having immense black characters like Quick Ben, Kalam and Rake etc would be very right on.

I hope they don't whitewash them. Looking at the pictures of Rake out there, he seems more a Nordic god Thor-style than a Tiste Andii. I know midnight black is a tricky color to put on a skin if you want to highlight the features, but I have seen Rake images which made me ask "where is the darkness here?"

Yeah, they would have to spray paint the actors to get it right.
