The Malazan Empire may not last as long as you might think. Although its status in the novel canon is unknown, Erikson's gaming map of Quon Tali is labelled as "Post-Empire circa 1325". It seems to show Quon Tali as broken back down into its constituent parts less than 160 years after the MBotF.

Interesting. I wonder if some of the Malazan reforms will stick, or if it will go back to being the awful mess it was.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.

Considering it was the sheer strength of personality that let Kel and Dancer form it in the first place, and how completely things went to crap when Laseen took over, i'm doubting the Empire survives Rel, tho that in itself would be an interesting story to read.

Post Kel/Dancer, so to speak, the Empire's lost 7C, failed to take the best part of Genabackis, and failed to take back Korel. That leaves Malaz Island, Unta, Itko Kan, Nap, Kartool, the Wickan Plains, and chunks or Genabackis and Dal Hon of debatable value? ...a i missing anywhere?

It's been suggested that the loss of 7C and the Wickan Plains will cause a food shortage. Wondering if that will play out at any point.

But the Empire retook 7C... well, such as it is now after the plague.

In his latest interview with Ribald, ICE confirms that Mallick Rel "is featured in my current novel I'm working on."

Those seem like very ambitious release dates, but what a ride we'll get in terms of story.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I believe I said the words "Holy Fuck" in a hushed whisper.

So very sold.

Gotta imagine the release dates are tentative or even placeholders, but one can dream!
