That is why I'm worried about this project. Some cool scenes and imagery concerning the jaghut would probably not be in the movie.

I'm, sure they will make the film so that it can be understood by everyone... whether it will be fully apreciated is another matter.

My problem with a film is that it will shatter certain images I already have in my head. That and the fact that I can't remember a time when someone uttered these 7 words: the film was better than the book.

Undeniably there will be considerable loss between book and movie- You see this with each based-on-the-____-novel movie. But on the other hand, it is going to be pretty impossible to capture on film, even in a 3-4 hour epic.

The best we can hope for is an adaptation that is faithful to the spirit of the book, if not to the exact detail. Somewhere, someone exists to direct, produce, and act out the right kind of adaptation.

We can only hope they come together to actually do it :D

I'd love to see an adult animated series based on MBotF...I think that would be the best way to put it on screen..

I don't know...the movie wouldn't end up being much like the book....it would be too hard. They'd have to leave a lot of stuff out.

I agree. Animations might be off putting to some, but a comfort for many others. There are more possibilities and all you need are good voices instead of trying to find someone who looks like the character. Special effects are a lot easier too. :p

They should totally do that...but keep it adult content like the books and pay attention to detail!

I think a TV series would be the best way to go. It'd be difficult to tell parts of MBotF without referring to others, which would render a huge succession of lengthy films the only alternative.

Think a Lost style series, only not ridiculously drawn out and stupid, and actually good.

Glad to see I've finally got some backing to my "Similar to Rome and Dune" series/mini series.

I also support the animation as long as the quality was on par with Happy Feet or Spawn (the comic).

I agree that the whole MBotF absolutely cannot be a movie...even if each book got it's own. But speaking strictly of The Chain of Dogs, I think that could be....maybe. Animation would be the easiest.

But a long running series is my dream! Something that could be on HBO or another such thing. Hour long each! Oh the joys that would bring. :p
of course, I think we are a long way from that happening as of now.

Never is a long way off, with HBO having ASoIaF in pre-production, along with another show like it, only 1 of which will be picked up.

Don't think another show like that would happen, way too costly.

Not for several years, certainly.

Anyway, I'm fairly sure this plan has been put on the shelf, or we would have heard some more about it by now. Willing to bet it'll never happen :p

The trouble with an animated series is that the illustration has to be spot on- drawings leave the potential for anime, which would damage the series no end, as I dont think massive dinnerplate eyes and overdramatic expressions could manage it. Likewise, alot of the effects (magic, T'lan Imass sembling from dust, Soletaken veering, etc) could look a bit tacky or silly.

I just think actors would give it an edge, the human feel is vital to the series and the ability to empathise with the characters, and the subtleties of facial expressions and eye movement could make it a masterpiece. But then there's the same problem of CGI effects being potentially bad. Get the Stargate people on it, those efffects were awesome! :p

Animated series does look the more likely option, as itd be much cheaper and easier. I just hope it doesnt go too cartoony if it is made.

It'd have to be either awesome animation or something like HBO doing it, where they could have the freedoms they need to portray it accurately.

However, I agree (and blame) Brood. We should have heard something by now.

I don't think we'll ever see MBOTF in any type of other media unless it's the comic the Khan told us about or animation (which I would be a fan of if done right).

****EDIT*** Or a MBOTF porn of course....:p
