Yah,what the title says. I think Abyss is right and we should, not least due to my fault, move any further Robin Hobb related discussion and Fitz-hating to this thread.

I'll just chime into say I normally hate slice of life sections in books but I can quite happily read about Fitz not doing much and ignoring obvious plot points for hours.

I think the third trilogy is highly worth reading, and a fitting end to the series.

I love most of hobb, though the start of the dragon keeper series is a slog and the less said about the soldier's son series the better.

Interesting. I didn't mind the first two of the dragon keeper books, but three and four are firmly on the "hours of my life I won't get back" pile. That whole series just felt like it didn't successfully go anywhere.

Re: GF. Man, the feels in this one are hitting hard. So many choices that Fitz is making "to protect others" are actively making their lives more difficult. I think the most painful to read was the one where Fitz decided not to have a discussion at all though.

150 pages left.

I'll talk about Soldier's Son all day. Nobody can stop me.

Started Fool's Fate this morning. Hobb can write some really beautiful prose.

Surprisingly, I am so far stringing myself along the chapters of said character, because Fitz is still doing preciously little and I actually like her and connect to her in a limited way (not usually a fan of

At least the pace and events have picked up some in the second half of Fool's Assassin. I'm at about 70% through the book now. I can also tell just by the overly dramatic chapter titles what's going to happen *sigh*

Finally finished Fool's Quest. I'm happy that I took a break from the series for awhile after reading the previous book to process some of Hobb's story choices because it allowed to to enjoy this one a lot more than I would have if I'd gone straight in. I'm still not necessarily happy about how much a certain character has changed, but I can see why it happened and how it's progressing the story. I'm actually going to jump into the last book soon. It feels odd knowing it's finally going to be over.

Oh man, I didn't realize that I never posted any closing thoughts on the series. I've kinda reverted to lurking mode on here way more than I should.

That reminds me that I need to finish the last trilogy. I had to take a break after the first book because... of reasons. But I do actually want to see it through to the end.

I think I'm at the point where I can't deal with Fitz for prolonged amounts of time. I barely have any time to read atm at all, and I can't stand Fitz so either the circumstances around him have to be really darn interesting or I have to be in a very special mood to deal with him.

On FOOL'S QUEST currently, and even a few chapters in so much more seems to be happening in comparisons with Book7...it almost feels like (and bear with me because I read Book 7 when it was a freshly released hardcover..which was...jeezus 6 years ago now) someone other than Hobb wrote that one, and the version of Hobb who wrote Farseer and Tawny Man showed back up for this one. This feels like a Fitz book (Bee chapters not withstanding) to me. Anyways, plan to grab the next book and finish out the series.

While I've not finished the last trilogy yet, I'm still excited for more ROTE books!

Currently rereading Fitz and Fool, it just gets better every time. She's so good at making side characters like Revel, Riddle and Nettle feel alive.
