I'm on a foreign country. I don't have my computer with me. I'm still walking back to my hotel now, as I have at this time the past couple of days. I fall asleep as soon as I get to my hotel room. I was around constantly all of last week waiting to update so it's just bad timing.

Conferences: you listen to 12 hours of papers every day, and it's exhausting and mostly boring apart from that one single brilliant paper, and you hope no one boos your own paper. But none of that actually matters, because the reason you're really here is to make contacts and network and I really really hate that. You have to do all the scmooozing and the fake laughter, and that one guy who you really want to be in touch with because he could be useful to your project, but then after a couple of glasses he says 'aren't immigrants really ruining everything' and you're like UGH but have to suck it up and make a non-commital noise because this guy has PULL...so yeah, I normally don't have the energy to do anything after.

Thanks. I very much realise it's by no means the worst thing ever, and I am in a beautiful city, but you do just feel mentally drained and kinda dirty inside after, and it doesn't really put me in the right mood to do anything other than pass out.
