Well, I have a fleet that I cant do much with now that it turns out I can't bring gfs with me when I retreat. I'd be amendable to suggestions as to what I'll use it for.

Err I'm pretty sure you can bring ground forces with you when you retreat. This thread has an official ruling from the designer in it.

I thought it was that you could Skilled Retreat with ground forces that are already in space, but not on planets? Compared to the ordinary retreat where the same principle applies, but there's an added part of the declare retreat step where you can move ground forces from planets to space. Skilled retreat doesn't have a declare step so you never get the opportunity to move them up to space.

That was my take on it/how it was explained to me by someone. Mod can research and decide.

Just so you know, given this rule:

If a player wishes to retreat with any of his ground forces that are on planets he controls in the active system, he may place those units in the space area of the active system during this step.

I would say that Morgoth is allowed to move his ground forces when using Skilled Retreat.

His initial provisional, however, was to only bring the infantry that was on Arnor, so that's all I will allow at this point!

It was, and I wouldn't want to try to change that after I knew the outcome of the ground battle. I'm just pleased to have some hope left in that little fleet.
