Mine as well.

So, while we're waiting, what made you guys pick your race? For me it was to play something very very different from the Nekro, and preferably a race I've never played before, which made the Arborec the best choice. Besides, they also have a radically different way of playing than most races I think. Or it looks that way. Or maybe I'm just abnormally attracted to hiveminds.

Yssaril for their action card game
Naalu for their initiative, retreat and cheap fighting force

but ended up picking Hacan for their ability to trade with everyone, I'm hoping I can broker quite a few deals this game and become sort of a bank for transactions.

Mainly took ghosts because I thought gnaw was taking muaat and the thought of a war sun appearing in my homeworld wasn't a pleasant one :). Also they seemed fun and wanted to try out a race with a bit more fleet power and mobility. Was also looking at letnev, sol, neckro and Naalu but thought ghosts would be a bit different.

The Ghosts are the most fun to play I think, but then I always had a thing for maneuverability in strategy games.

Pragmatism, I guess. When I looked at the map, I ws wedged between an expansionist race and a military one who will both act before me on round 1, resulting in initially only a small corridor to the rest of the galaxy.
Hacan would have been great in that situation as I think they do not necessarily need a ton of planets to win, but they were taken.
Xxcha would potentially have allowed me to expand after Khell, but they were taken.
Nekro would be very well suited to the situation but would require war with either race. Also, I think people grew a bit tired of someone scoring tech based on agenda's :).
Letnev looks too much like Sardakk (late game military, requiring a fairly strict tech path to get to strength) to make it a fun try for a second game rather than a "let's see if I can do better" - in addition, it has the same strengths D'rek has.

Muaat was very tempting, but it looks like it requires all the dominos falling perfectly to make it a thing of beauty - and versus travelling docks and monster dreads, slow ponderous War Suns can't be everywhere at once.

Sol on the other hand gives me a kind of flexibility Sardakk didn't have. The extra CT during the Status update is a clear gain, the the Orbital Drop allows using Strategics as a Tactical stall, which is awesome.
Having starting techs that are compatible with the racial upgrades is great and gives the option of skipping Secondary of Technology, which I had to take last game.

Who's blaming you? I said well played. You think there's sour grapes here but there aren't. This is the game. But obviously, there are consequences for your actions :)
