I only asked to see how far ahead he was. By that we can say Rake and traveller dont fight in the next one, but will it happen?! Surely one or two big names will be killed before the end, and Rake and Dassem (if he is Traveller) are two big names.
And they are (possibly) destined to fight. Or prophesised.
Or something.

The knight of the dragon hold will cross blades with his own vengence. Rake's old sword is called among other names Vengence and is in the hands of Traveller.

Vengeance is powered by a singular will. so who does traveller wish to reap vengeance from? hood? if thats da case why the hell would he fight Rake? if anything using the sword of Rakes now dead brother should make the two see eye to eye. blade against blade though I think dassem could defeat Rake. he feels the need for vengeance 4 his daughter deeply. add that to his own power that would make hood lose control of him and you've got the malazan godling version of da guy-who-is-cool-in-a-hardcore-way. no competion, i think...

Assuming the "vengeance" Feather Witch talks about is in fact Traveller's sword, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be in Traveller's hands when it confronts the Knight of the Dragon Hold ...

I've read MT so I'm familiar with the passage (Knight of Dragon Hold, Vengeance, etc.) ... but when did Rake become the Knight of the Dragon Hold (vs. Knight of House Dark)? In other words, is Feather Witch actually talking about Rake, or could it be someone else?

Holds existed before Houses.

Ok, I stand corrected :D (about Dassem = Dessembrae)

BUT why do you think the Knight of the Dragon Hold is Rake? Is it only because of the word "vengeance"? Because I don't really see a reason for Rake and Traveler to fight...

There was a very good discussion on why Rake is the knight of the dragon hold but it got deleted with the forum move.

Nah, I'm not sure that vengeance means Rake's old sword. Rake certainly isn't short on enemies.. it might even be Silchas, they weren't exactly on the best of terms way back when.

FW's description of Knight of Dragon Hold fits Rake, well, better than others at least and I'd think that Rake was too powerful and important figure to be left out of the Hold. (left out.. how does one get in at the first place ? :D)

Rake is my favourite character so I will probably go for rake - but there is something about Dassem, from what I have read so far which includes NOK, he is probably the best fighter when it comes to a sword on sword fight. But ofcourse rake can just turn into his soletaken form and its game over.

Yeh Like hetan said he has.

Realisticly when you think about it, Erikson finished BH late last year and it was originally meant to come out at around the start of this year.

Knowing erikson writing scheduale with how he managed to get DG,MOI,HoC,MT all out within around a year of each other. Im pretty sure Erikson would be around halfway through writing Reapers gale if not more.
And no doubt he has shown people he knows such as Patch what he has written so far for second opinions.

Um...as to Dassem being just a "man" I think we can quite safely say that by now he's something quite a bit more than that. In the conversation between K'rul and Envy that you quoted K'rul also mentions that Dassem is the First Sword reborn, also that he began to rival Hood's power and now he's also an ascendant. But that he would beat Rake in a fight is...unrealistic. After all while there might be better fighters than Rake I truly doubt many can compare to his power.
