As chaos sundered the galaxy the Yssaril elders watched with heavy hearts. Neckro troops subsumed the jol nar homeworld, a massive jol nar fleet gathered for retribution. Naalu, creuss, sol, sardak Noor and Hacan traded fruitless shots and betrayals as they squabbled for territory. Mental pirates plundered the star lanes without cease. Finally the Yssasiril elders agreed, the time for waiting was done.

Jol-nar dissidents were persuaded to provide valuable data on technologies, and that the council of twelve was not to be trusted after offering to sell these secrets to the hated mentak.

A rogue cluster of neckro were persuaded to donate resources for this 'weakening' of the jol nar.

T'apper of the sardak norr had his palms suitably greased by the delivery of some rare delicacies from the moon's of retillion, and so the Yssaril tribes were elected speaker to represent the races with the mentak pirates curbing there piracy and the creuss traders supporting the deal.

Key members of the hacan and sol militaries had already been approached and persuaded of the wisdom of a Yssasiril emperor. Consul gnaw of the Naalu was persuaded by hefty bribes and an assurance that his stay on mecatol rex would not be interrupted to persuade the Naalu that an Yssasiril emperor was for the best.

The industrial complex of Arnor lor, evacuated by the jol nar was liberated by the Yssasiril, and as the Messiah preached and raised troops, and political manuevering removed laws from the books, the galaxy waited for the Yssasiril to wait once more.

But the Yssasiril had waited long enough, with the new technologies obtained, the military industrial complex of Arnor lor Silvano and Wellon united behind them and an untested flagship the Yssasiril went to war in earnest for the first time to remove rogue elements of the sardak norr standing between them and total victory, to announce to the galaxy that a new emperor reigned and he was Yssasiril.

That was a lot of fun guys, I was sure someone would rumble me and sabotage one of those action cards. Can't quite believe everything came together to allow me to snatch the victory this round!

Definitely in for game 2!

Interestingly, the Agenda on the top of the pile (which Tapper could have swapped in for this coming Agenda Phase) was:

MUTINY (DIRECTIVE)
FOR: Each player who voted "For" gains 1 VP.
AGAINST: Each player who voted "For" loses 1 VP.

:D

To be fair I'd definitely have veto'd that!

My biggest boo-boo still comes down to misreading my first secret objective. Though it would have been difficult to achieve anyway, I made it basically impossible for myself by thinking it said something else. Although if I did have that extra VP going into the last round, I'm sure people would have been paying me even more attention :D

I was sure you were in position to sneak a win by building destroyers and gaining an action phase secret objective by destroying fighters.

Because I had no red tech I couldn't research Destroyer 2 so I would have had to get EXTREMELY lucky to fulfil that objective.

It was a great sneak win, IH. You really played your cards well, just hanging around in midtable till everything came together for you. Meanwhile I was going on fumes by the last round - that final SO gave me hope but I would have been very lucky to score another VP in the next round.

What was the objective exactly?

Destroy 3 Fighters in a single battle with Anti-Fighter Barrage. Somewhat more difficult than win a fight with your flagship :apt:

Yeah I had both those SO early on so spent the whole game trying to get into position to play that combo and sneak an unexpected win.

Certainly helped that I didn't have to really fight anyone!

First Loser!! The Sol announce a summer-long beach party on Jord! All non-Yssaril aliens invited. The Yssaril will be too busy in their new position. Have fun being stuck behind a desk all summer with the paperwork, you green bozos!

To be fair I didn't help. You helped yourself with that action card theft. But it was well played. Had no idea you could score 5 points in a round. Wow!
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

You cleared out Arnor lor for me that was a big help :apt: I was very pleased to score 5 points in a round, especially without imperial!

I had the SO "Their greatest ship": kill a flagship or war sun. So I needed to get yours close and keep Tatt's war sun far away. I figured my best chance of getting one was yours or Tapper's.

Essentially, I was trying to pull of the same thing you were with the action based SO.

I'm a little sad IH prevented me from playing Diplomacy on Mellon Zhobat the upcoming round, but I guess I'll find it in my heart to forgive him.

Hah, my one and only plan for the upcoming round was to play diplomacy on Jord and then pass, cashing in my 3 tokens for the single VP I needed. Without Diplomacy, I don't think I could have survived a combined onslaught, especially as both you and twelve now had Light/Wave to get past all my roadblocks.

I did have a question about that though: Could you remove a token placed by Diplomacy with Logistics?

The other thing I really wanted to do all game but the opportunity never arose: Research Light/Wave and then use the wormhole on Tatts' flagship to warp straight to his homeworld :)

Haha, yeah, I thought about that too, but I needed as many planets as possible alas.

I don't see why you couldn't use warfare that way.

Yeah part of me is sad that we didn't get another round with everyone unleashing on each other. I was also thinking of grabbing diplomacy for the same reasons :)
