Just so you know Twelve, if you had sabotaged that deal between me and Blend, then secondary of Logistics puts my dreads in Herrah, I move all ships in. I knew I needed a good nights sleep before making my move. I'm going to honour our deal though.

Yeah surprised twelve hasn't stopped Nico building by dropping a ship in his home system... Then noticed nico had only 2 tokens in fleet. If he had more he'd have been able to build his flagship and a couple of dreads which I think would have torn twelves fleet apart, hell his flagship and one dread would stand a chance at doing that.

Plus he'd have 3 more than and 2 commodities if he'd accepted my deal!

IH, I am very curious as to what you plan to do. It's a shame about Nico falling apart, his race would have been an interesting addition to the galactic conflict, but now you're in a very interesting position.

Flagship, dread and a few fighters would solve the space combat part, but he'd also need ground troops to take things back, and there's the problem.
Nico was pretty close to being really scary - 3 yellow for his second racial would have given him access to more CT than he might have ever needed, and Integrated Economy on top of his first racial tech would have made battle losses almost non-existent (plus, Space Docks II are also immediately available as an upgrade).

Should have protected himself better though. That's the thing with going hard on tech early, it's hard to keep up with fleet construction at the same time. Which is why I railed at Khell and Blend for letting twelve do just that the first couple of rounds.

It's a pretty cool board right now, especially as I can't really tell what Gnaw and Tapsytaps plan to do with their virgin fleets.


edit - I had a look at the public objectives, and they don't look very promising for me.. Most of them are so far away from what I can manage they might as well be on another galaxy. Who has access to 5 tech planets!

Before this game I've always considered Sol to be a rather weak and uninteresting race, but Khell really showed how they can be used to safeguard against the consequences of overextension. Though there was some luck involved too, with my shitty drones being unable to hit a fully sized factory, let alone a Solarian soldier.

And a better carrier too I suspect. I don't think their carrier was different from others in TI3

I picked Sol because I thought they would be the simplest, most basic race to play in a first game. I've been pleasantly surprised to find that they're really fun to be as well! The starting tech and racial traits, while not flashy in any way, are all fundamentally really useful, and the unit upgrades and flagship are pleasingly powerful.
