I had this big grin when Dujek popped up. Also the Dancer and Kel interactions in this book are better than in DL.

They ARE, and gloriously so, but that's bcs ICE writes then as they've been working together a while, as opposed to the strangers who sort of fall into partnership they were in DL.

- am really enjoying the by play with and between the Napan crew. Bummer so many of them are likely to end up dead. Amys... have we seen her before...? Blanking. Hawl of course from HoC.

- Ah the break between Das and Hood seems to be happening WAY earlier than i expected. have to wonder tho'... the girl sleeping in the Deadhouse was described as in armor and all cut up... and it was hinted there was a link to a Chaining... so was that Nara...?

- "How do i prove I'm Hood's Mortal Sword?" "I dunno.. kill something." ...i admit, i laughed.

- "best friend he ever had" ....awwww.... but totally makes sense in light of what we know is ahead for Kel n Dancer. I like how Dancer's first move is always to put himself between Kell and whatever the threat is. It's such glorious foreshadowing pun intended for the throne room in NoK.

It was obvious Shear is Seguleh, but her sparing w Dassem took an interesting turn in that the whole thing was buildup to an actual challenge for rank. Also, foreplay.

Alas poor Amys, we hardly knew ye. Also, who the fuck took her out if not Cowl??? ...Nightchill?

Look at Surly laying the smack down.

Dassem's backstory is particularly interesting in that Hood actually trained him. Given what we learn of Hood in the MBF and KT, we know he was a soldier....

Ditto everything about the 'Napan invasion'. Holy. Fuck. Dassem.

Kallor's little surprise for Nightchill and Kem's intervention felt a little inconsequential tho'.
