Noooo! say it ain't so! Not Bill Murray!

And here's the kicker - during the shoot of a movie being directed by Aziz Ansari. He was allowed back? I thought he was perma-cancelled?

I'm starting to resign to the fact that the entirety of Hollywood and potentially the Arts sector is one big sesspool of inappropriateness. Literally anyone can turn out to be a sleaze, dickhead or cretin. It is institutional and beyond repair.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I mean, he's idolized at The Chive...so we should not be surprised really.

So, I guess there is a Princess Bride community read going on. The kid from the movie, Fred Savage, has been swept up in complaints coming from the Wonder Years show. I guess he went on to be a producer and director?

An update that is encouraging - I guess Bill Murray is working it out with his situation. Not sure what the specifics are, but seems like old heads like Murray still think we are still living in a time when boorish jokes and humor are given a pass by individuals who don't like that type of humor.

Also, I caught some of the Amber Heard footage when she took the stand in that deal with Johnny Pirate. It was uncomfortable to watch.

He had previous touring dates set for this week, so it's understandable.

Yeah, the fact that he got all there counts of defamation (hard as hell to prove in court), shows you who won. For sure.

I'm baffled by why and how this whole trial was viewable by the public, like, what was the point? Isn't our celebrity obsessive bad enough without shovelling this down our throats literally 24/7 for the last month?

Okay, I didnt follow this trial at all, but apparently it is over and Heard lost? Am I allowed to like Depp stuff again now or was this another example of male mysogeny rearing its ugly head and suppressing female abuse? I really struggle these days, I'm in my mid forties and I can not keep up with all this social media hatred and opinionating. If someone could break it down without too much emotional dressing, that would be much appreciated. I'd hate to accidentally find myself on the wrong side of social acceptance due to ignorance.

So this was intentional. Depp didn't care about the money. He cared about setting the record straight with the truth, and exposing Amber's lies to the public. Since it's in the court or public opinion he'd lost by being slandered. He chose Virginia because he knew they televised their trials.

And I get that it's a celebrity wankfest...but this is the first real case that shows that men can suffer abuse too and can come forward and seek justice, and I think it gave hope to a lot of men who think they won't be believed. Shrug.

You can like Depp stuff. As someone who followed the trial (I have a personal investment due to having dated someone like Amber who abused and gaslit me) he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she lied about all of it. It's hard as HELL to prove liable in a defamation case....you pretty much have to prove what someone was thinking in their head....lucky Amber is a narcissistic psychopath and she admitted to some of the things outright on the stand. But yeah, he got all three points of defamation proven. That's huge and it means the jury didn't believe a word she said. A tonne of random people associated with the case stepped up for Depp and basically said that Amber lied.

She got 2mil for damages due not to Depp, but due to an Adam Waldman tweet that the jury felt affected her career too...so nothing Depp did.

He got 15million (dropped due to punitive capping in Viriginia to 10mil375k).

Two things REALLY sank her stupid case.

1. There was a "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" moment the second time Amber was on the stand. Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez basically got Amber to ADMIT she wrote the Op-Ed about Johnny, AND that she did it maliciously. This was the key thing the trial was about, and her lawyers and her spent 6 weeks pretending she didn't write it, and if she did it wasn't malicious....but Vasquez riled her up enough that she blurted out that she wrote it and that she wrote it to defame him (in no uncertain terms).

2. TMZ. A video showed up on TMZ of Johnny slamming cupboards around drunkenly the day his mother died. She leaked it to TMZ (in the trial she claimed she didn't leak it, and didn't know "how" to leak things). The TMZ guy who was on the stand said that not only would she have had to submit it since she's the copyright holder and for TMZ to currently be the copyright holder she would have had to sell it to them...her and no one else. that proves she leaked it (this is maliciousness) but worse...the video TMZ received was edited.....the full version which the court had seen shows Amber sets up her phone to record, turns it to show him when he moves, gaslights him about "why are you upset?", knowing full well his mom died...and she snickers at the end. She edited all that out of the TMZ submission to show only the slamming cupboards part and Johny grabbing the phone when he realizes he's being recorded. The time stamp on the TMZ video damns her testimony about that video.

Here's a video from her UK deposition of her admitting to leaking the TMZ video...and realizing midway through she flubbed up....and then realizes that putting her hands over her face for screwing up looks worse, and pushes them through her hair instead...this is the single most damning thing to me (other than the audio tapes her her admitting to abuse and gaslighting him; which have not apparently Been enough for people for the 2 years they've been out)...you can watch her realize she's caught herself out in her lie in real time....they showed this video snippet to the jury, and I imagine it weighed heavily on their decision.

Extra stuff. She said on the stand that Kate Moss had been pushed down the stairs by Johnny back when they dated. This was big as the judge had initially (prior to the trial start) deemed no reason to accept Moss as a witness since she was not involved in Depp and Heards relationship...but then Amber was stupid enough to meniuton Moss on the stand, which meant Depp's team could call her. So they did and she testified that not only did she SLIP on rainy/wet stairs in Jamaica on vacation with Depp, but he was in front of her, saw her slip and ran back to help her back to the room to get medical attention. So Amber lied once again.

Put it this way, there is nothing in her evidence that shows that he abused her. AT worst he said some macabre things to his friends about her in his anger after their divorce...and that he's a recovering substance abuser. There is no proof he abused her beyond possible reactionary abuse (when the victim fights back) in a few instances.

So yes you can like Depp's stuff again (I never stopped liking his stuff).

I expect his next film to do big money in support of him, and I heard that RDJ wants to do a movie with him (possibly casting him in Sherlock 3) to get him back on his feet, and Tim Burton wants him in Beetlejuice 2.

I think it's pretty clear they both abused each other and both are addicts of various drugs. The verdict by the jury here doesn't really make sense in terms of "he defamed her, she defamed him" because what they're ultimately talking about is "does she have a right to talk about abuse he committed to her?"

I don't bite on the "he's exonerated" angle at all. He sued her for revenge and specifically in Virginia to get the most friendly to him laws possible in the English speaking world and he still ended up with a half win, half loss.

You can like Depp all you want and hate Heard all you want, but the way you're talking about it absolves him of harmful acts he willingly admits he did and of the legal harassment he's been commiting for years now.

Personally I don’t like Heard b cause her lies don’t help the credibility of real victims.

It's not. In fact she has zero credible evidence that he abused her.

Oh look, Talking points from the Heard camp. Come on Amph. Don't fall for the BS.

It makes perfect sense since the single thing she won on was about Adam Waldman saying she staged a single incident in the relationship, and the jury found that not credible as a statement. Since Waldman said it in defence of Depp, he's liable for it. That's the only thing she won on.

she can say whatever she likes...but it needs to not be proven lies...otherwise that's defamatory.

After she defamed him and caused him to lose multiple jobs with her lies.....yes he did. I would too.

What? No, he did it in Virginia to get it televised because the court of public opinion is what he wanted to win in to clean his reputation after 6 years of her lies. Proving liable in that state is just as hard as everywhere else. It was not "friendly to him"...WTF?

He didn't lose. He won on EVERY point of his case. She only won 2mil on a single point of hers that is a technicality about Waldman's tweet...not anything Depp did or said. That's a win for him., not half win half loss....my gods.
