This is actually true.

I agree but when renting a car in a country that drives on the wrong side it's automatic all the way. One less thing to think about.

Veng - everyone here drives manual but all rental companies have automatics for dirty foreigners.

Speaking as a semi-frequent visitor, go to London.
Pick some cool neighbourhoods.

Drove a manual half way across the world mez, auto is for people who can't drive.

For example, it's very hard to get a manual in Australia or America. Because they are all bad drivers

I think the important and deeply concerning thing here, that no one seems to be talking about, is that Abyss is regularly in this country. And we're doing nothing about it.

You are allowed to use them without knowing how to drive

Do you drive autos in driving schools in US/Oz too?

Depending on where you are learning to drive. Usually people learn to drive with their parents car so if it is a manual you learn on a manual. I learned on a tractor when I was nine. I drove a manual for years. Then I moved to a city and have a auto. The stop and go traffic makes manual driving a lot less fun.

No matter where/how you learn, though, you need to get a license to drive a car in most countries. Does England have some bizarre law that you only need a license for manual transmission cars, but not for automatic transmission cars? Surely that is not the case...

Yeah but you can get that license by completing exams in an auto...

Because autos don't require you to know how to drive in order to use them!

Sure they do. They absolutely do. All the important aspects that make up driving are the exact same on an auto - braking, handling, signaling, etc.

Shifting transmission isn't driving the car, it's just changing engine configuration. Automatic transmission just makes managing the engine an easier/lazier endeavour.

Or are we saying that driving without a manual choke knob doesn't count as "real" driving?
