I have zero qualms with turning a game mountainous if it flips scum in the process.

I also don't really know what you mean by this. Do you mean revealing one town for one scum? But they're not revealed as in confirmed - because the rest of town (and the other roled town) do not know which one to believe.

No. I mean death.
1 Town death is a worthy price if it results in a scum kill the next day.
1:1 trade.

Not in the post I responded to, obviously.
The symp could just counter-reveal as one of them - then who would the real healer/bodyguard believe and know who to target? Meanwhile we spend a few days trying to work out which is the real roled town and which is the scum, while killers go about their business.
Edit: deleted extraneous 'or'
1:1 is always a town-sided trade.
Which is a reason to fully put the bodyguard's ability in use

Getting two un-cc'ed town claims early also prevents a lot of unnecessary speculation about those players and let's the rest of town focus on actual scum suspects.

But how would it do that? Your original proposal was that the healer and bodyguard effectively stay alive for the duration of the game by protecting each other through revealing. I'm saying that likely won't work because scum can fake-reveal.
So then you change your stance and say that well, we effectively vote to lynch the revealer and the counter-revealer in an effort to get rid of scum. In which case, yes, the scum is dead - but so is the roled town, for the rest of the game. It's not a great trade because the scum who dies is most likely the symp, who doesn't even need to be rid of for town to win the game.
So in a sense it would be two days spent talking about that, rather than finding the two killers, no?

No.
If two people claim the same role, one HAS to be scum.
Lynch only within those two. If it flips town, the next day is a guaranteed scum lynch.
I feel like mafia is a relatively new game here?

But even less so if the bg is busy protecting someone who will never be targeted

Anyone that does not win with town is a threat to town.
That means symp too.
Especially since the symp flips as town, it's getting rid of a known antitown voice.

It's the symp's job to protect scum... taking the symp out classified the game state.
Just because they don't have to be lynched doesn't mean there isn't value in it if they make themselves a target.

Symp's not worth the BG's life, especially if the BG could get a killer instead and not have town need to use a lynch to acquire that. A known symp is not a threat until it's DDay. You can just ignore their posts, you can even literally use the ignore function to not see their posts at all.

*sigh*
So you've made that call all by yourself. You don't know who the Bodyguard is, if they've checked in or what they might think of your plan. Whilst I applaud you putting the idea out there early on so people can see it because I like to talk mechanics, it would have been much better for you to wait on the reactions of *all 10* players not just the 5 (4+you) who've been active so far. You've tried to force the reveal of a town role, regardless of the thoughts of the person holding that role. You've attempted to dictate the play of the other role purely to ensure your own survival whilst negating any skill on the part of the Bodyguard of correctly predicting who the kill will be. I don't like that.
If there's a counterclaim then I'm voting you first of the two claimants.
