Had some thoughts since we last spoke. Let me know what you think.

Merrid is NOT Eager Vig nor is his accomplice the Sorcerer.

Merrid IS Sorcerer and kills and resurrects on alternate nights.

Merrid's accomplice has one NK on night one, use-it-or -lose-it, just like an Eager Vig, but is EVIL, not Town.

Merrid claims to be Eager Vig and kills on Night one. Either Silchas or Rashan, though he claims he killed Rashan. Doesn't really matter.

Merrid's accomplice on Night 1 uses use-it-or-lose it kill on either Silchas or Rashan. Doesn't really matter.

Merrid claims to be Eager Vig and that he is targeting Rashan, who he wanted lynched, but Day ends in No Lynch.

The Sheriff, who is more interested in finding Scum than guarding self-proclaimed Town Vig, guards Denul instead.

Two kills revealed at start of Day 2.

Now Sheriff is looking elsewhere for Sorcerer. Guards Osseric and Jalan on subsequent nights.

Conclusion 1: Osseric or Janal were fruitlessly guarded after one or the other had spent his use-it-or-lose-it kill on Night 1.

Conclusion 2: Merrid the Sorcerer proceeds to kill and resurrect unimpeded.

Conclusion: 3: Osseric and Jalan are still in the Scum suspect pool.

Even if I had Guarded Merrid on Night 1 and prevented his kill, I would have assumed he was spent (due to his "reveal" as Eager Vig) and then concentrated on others and forgotten him completely. While having one less kill, that might have proven worse for Town in the long run.

The above makes it seem too much a given that Osseric or Janal is Scum. They are just possible Scum along with Nimander and Galain in the event that Merrid is indeed the Sorcerer and not a Town Eager Vig or Scum One Time Killer.
