Why on earth would Laseen pick Tavore for her adjunct?

She has no relevant experience, and has questionable loyalty. ( Laseen just sent her sister to the slavemines, no matter how loyal Tavore might be.. How can Laseen not doubt her loyalty? Knowing what she has done to her.)

And Laseen has a big empire with alot of capable people who have proved both their loyalty and skills.

Seems a little foolhardy to just give unproven on all counts Tavore.. a title, power and an army.

But the purge of nobility is endorsed by Tavore, and is due to Paran's rather tactless admission in GotM that the nobility are buying ranks and stations in the military.

But seriously: Keep Reading. It might take awhile, but you'll find out.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Not sure how far in you are but Felisin in her very first segment recalls it was Tavore herself who sent her to the chains. That's how Tavore proved her loyalty to Laseen. Tavore's other skills... RAFO.

As you read along, there will be more information about Tavore that will shed light on her appointment.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.

I'm pretty positive that information is not from GotM.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Hmm, I was sure that that was stated in a Paran scene / his thoughts in GotM. Sorry everyone.

Perhaps now the person above me sees why I don't recommend the wiki until after reading the books. Something like that might happen to you. Not really a big spoiler though.
