And yet I agree with Brian Lowry

I disagree with both sides of this argument.

That's what you get for binge-watching SLIDERS instead.

What can I say? When a show has the balls to replace John Rhys Davies with Jerry O'Connell's little brother, you gotta pay your respects.

Tonight's the night! Either the wolf tames the dragon or the dragon devours the wolf!
Damn, I wish I had a hot aunt.

Shocker
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Anyone else notice the lol moment of Bran talking to Sam? "I can see the past. I can see things happening now. Why have you come to Winterfell?"

Perfect wasted moment/place to have Clegane Bowl. They are in a fucking arena...

It wouldn't have made much sense there.

Be content with the Hound hinting that its coming.

Not sure if that was blue fire or ice? Ice breath on Ice Wall doesn't make much sense but ice is their element. this interests me.

I'd say magic ice. The wall was breaking apart, not melting.

No Bronn rescue of Sexy Sand. Will probably be dropped altogether. Not enough ep left to fit that in.

Once Cersei got her revenge scene that was never happening.

Gonna be a long ass wait now.

Content-wise, I'm happy; everything went as hoped and expected. Delivery was pretty hamhanded all around, though. Just my opinion.

Mostly agree. In terms of "delivery" I just think it's way soapier than it needs to be, and I'm not sure why they're going that route except that it makes for cliffhanger TV. I don't blame the actors though, like their delivery is fine imo. The overall tone of the show has just been sliding that way.

My big complaint of the episode is probably the Littlefinger scene. I knew it was possibly where this was headed, but it just didn't pack the punch it should have. Some of the building blocks were there, but not enough. It's a good example of the show going way more soap opera than (in this instance) cat & mouse. It's like one of those stories that tells you Batman is the world's greatest detective without showing you how he got from A to Z, and I suspect when you rewatch season 7 you're not gonna be able to see the trap being laid.

Yeah, it's not the actors; it's the writing. Tired of writers who think that deceiving the reader/viewer automatically makes for clever writing. It doesn't. The Littlefinger trap was not written in such a way that makes it believable. Sure, it's believable on its face that Arya and Sansa would plot against him, but the way they went about it was deceptive rather than clever. They took the easy way out; anyone can write A and then make a hard, nonsensical shift to B. Writing B so that people think it's A takes more effort and creativity.

I could go on and on about this episode but there's no point really.

I do think that the overall timing of killing Baelish now is good. He's delivered stability, all his troops, and they successfully got to his banner men without him knowing. That's maximizing a very dubious resource and some skilful work regarding the Vale people.

But the show depicts none of this. Just like it won't depict travel or other things that it spent so long on before.

The writers have to be under some kind of money crunch or something budgetary to be this bad. Or maybe the executive producers got bored and want to move to their completely terrible Confederacy series idea already.

The actors all did fine, although I thought Tyrion did a little too much fearful looking behind him. That is probably an editing thing rather than a thing Dinklage chose to do.

Okay, I'm calling it right now. First episode of next season begins with Arya using that face she just acquired and doing some STABBA! STABBA! Posted Image

Also, is that MythBusters show still airing new episodes? Because they need to do a Game of Thrones edition where they prove or debunk whether you can knock down an ice wall of that proportion with more ice. I'm calling shenanigans on that one. I was convinced the Night King had that one special horn and was going to give it a tooty toot to bring down The Wall, not use ice blasted from a glorified pressure washer. #gmab #smh Posted Image

I don't think it was ice. It's blue fire. It's hot enough to skip the melty process and go straight to vapor, and considering that only a streak at a time is being vaporized, that would cause the wall to crumble. Could be wrong, though.

I guess Bran the Builder made a mistake when he didn't build the wall dragonproof. Posted Image
Tormund and Beric got saved by their plot armor, right?

Littlefingers end came a bit too fast in my opinion. I would have really liked to know what he hoped to gain from turning Arya and Sansa against each other. Or why he gave Bran the dagger. He should have had some plan.

Also did anyone wonder why Lyanna should name her son Aegon? Rhaegar had already a son named Aegon.

I don't think so. They were on the Wall when it fell, and you could see the light of the dragonfire on Tormund's face the last time you saw him. They should have done a better job of making their deaths dramatic, because you're not the only one who thinks this, but I can't see how they could have survived that, and we had hints from the showrunners that Tormund wasn't going to survive this season (hence everyone being extra-surprised when he survived the expedition north of the Wall).

Yep, I also wondered that. I tend to think this is a show-only detail because it's dumb and I blame most dumb things on them. Maybe they thought it would be cool to reference the character who was written out of the show? Dunno.

I like how Sam told Bran about the annulment, then told him to Google it. If Bran can see anything at any time, why couldn't the show have just made it that he saw the annulment like he saw the Tower of Joy, without anyone telling him about it?

Yeah, that was one of the most hamhanded things in the whole episode. Didn't help that it served as narration over a surprisingly boring sex scene. Why was it so boring? Harington did such a good job with his death scene that I was expecting a lot more.

And when did doggy style go out of fashion in this world? That was all anyone ever did in season 1.

Just rewatched the scene. Last time he is shown he looks at the part of the wall that is crumbling behind him. So I thought that he would still be at the top of the wall, as he was running to the west and the wall collapsed from the west to the east. But if they hinted it ...
