Another strong episode - yes, there are some logic problems, but I'm enjoying the ride anyway.

I am still rewatching the series, and I watched "Blackwater" before the new episode, just because that's what episode I happened to be up to. So it was nice getting Varys's speech to Tyrion about "I can think of nothing worse" re: Melisandre, and then having their little meeting in the new episode. Good coincidence.

So, I guess Varys is going to die before the series is over, or they wouldn't have placed so much emphasis on that little exchange. Melisandre is less of a surprise; a lot of folks were hoping Varys would still be swimming at the end.

One thing that kinda caught me off guard was Bran's demeanor. I didn't expect the experience of being the Three-Eyed Raven to make him so....incredibly aloof. Having a hard time thinking of the right word to describe what he's like now. I like how he creeped out Sansa, though.

Also Blackwater would have been interesting to see beforehand just for Tyrion/Davos exchange.

Yeah, there were actually a few parallels but the Melisandre-Varys one really stuck out. Another is Sansa and Littlefinger arguing over who knows Cersei better. "Blackwater" also was the beginning of the Lannister-Tyrell alliance (not counting Littlefinger's proposition after Renly's death). So I went straight from the beginning of that alliance to its final end.

Did anyone else fist pump the air when the dragon flew so close over head of Jon? Could there be recognition there? hmmmm. And could this mean that "possibly" Dany will have someone accompany her if/when she rides out to destroy Euron's fleet? hmmmm. Or can this mean that "possibly" someone goes in her stead? hmmmmmm.

Also, does Bran's explanation of being the Three Eyed Crow mean that he was trained by his future self in those episodes last season? I sorta drew that from that scene.
And about that scene, did you guys think his description sounded eerily similar to Littlefinger's advice to Sansa in the scene prior.

Littlefinger: Fight every battle every where, always, in your mind. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Everything that happens will be something that you've seen before.

Bran: I can see everything, every thing that's ever happened, to every one. Everything that's happening right now.

That's an interesting parallel.

I was hoping, given the name of the episode (Queen's Justice), that Dany would actually try to execute Jon Snow by dragon fire, which he would survive, and that's how (part of) the Targ reveal would go down.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I'm starting to wonder if the show will even do it. You'd think they would; some of the clues are still there. But apparently Varys doesn't know, and if Varys doesn't know, then who would reveal it? Also (major spoilers from set leaks, perhaps related, perhaps not):

Just noticed on watching again this morning that it happens straight after Jon says "But I'm not a Stark".

That was basically my only live reaction on the r/dbz discord server when I finally got around to watching it. (I keep forgetting when it's on; weekends are madness on r/dbz. The really hilarious thing is that I was watching "Blackwater" while the new episode was airing and I didn't even realize it.)

Brilliant!

Also a far more minor point, but it was nice to see Mark Gatiss back chewing the scenery. Love watching him!

Yeah I noticed; it's a was bit odd to have those two speeches back to back. It was like Littlefinger gave her the advice just moments before she gained access to someone who can do all that he was hinting at.

Bittersweet reunion - initial happiness; then, oh you're not quite right are you?

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Another solid ep. Stuff is happening!!!!!

CERSEI - It's a testament to the character and story that i can dislike her intensely, yet utterly sympathize and be ok with what she did to Elaria Sand and the last Sandsnake.

TYRION n JON - damn, that was just great dialogue after more great dialogue.

DANY - wow, those plans are just not working out, are they?

DANY n JON - some little part of me couldn't help thinking their first exchange was predictably silly, but even so, Jon totally had the moral high ground...
"Your ancient ancestor promised all Starks would serve me."
"Your daddy set my uncle and cousin on fire and sat their cackling evily while they barbequed."
"Oh yeah, sorry about that. So, back to the whole serve me thing...."

VARYS n MEL - verrrrrrrrry interesting.

SANSA n LITTLEFINGER - oph damn, that short chat was great.

SANSA n BRAN - Ok, Bran, you don't have to go full creepy. It's ok to just y'know, hug your sister and hang out for a few minutes.

JAIME n OLD LADY TYRELL - oh, that scene was so well done.

EURON - i get why some hate the character, but i laugh every time he's on and chewing screen. His shot at Jaime was priceless.
He is totally going to put a bunch of ballista bolts into one of the dragons.

SAM - Yay Sam Gets A Win YAAAAAY!

JORAH - hey, not dead.

Yeah, the Bran creepyness was odd. I get that they wanted him to say something to give Sansa an idea of what he meant and can do, and to allow for him to sympathize. But it was also a callback to one of the more controversial things to happen in the show. And sympathy sometimes means not spelling things out. I'm not sure having your crippled little brother watch you get raped by your new husband makes it better.

On the Cersei thing, I get what you mean. I will say that smiley gloating Cersei felt a bit off. She used to have more smug, still mad, I-am-entitled-to-this smiles I think (like when she thought she found Tyrion's whore, and even when she got revenge on the septa. Her revenge scene on the sand snakes she seemed positively giddy.

I want to know where Bran picked up all that pot on his way down from beyond the Wall. Mole's Town, maybe? I don't see it growing very well up North in the winter.

I've had this weird feeling since she first appeared in the show, that Missande is not quite what she seems. Most of that stems from the fact that until she showed up, Jaqen was the only other person we had heard say the phrase Valar Morghulis (unless syrio had said it too?) So my initial thought was that she might be a faceless ma/person or something like that. Now i discounted that theory a while later when it seemed like that phrase was used more commonly in Bravos. But it still seems like something of a spy signal/countersign.

And then in last night's episode, when Davos tries to speak with her about where she's from, she shuts him down completely. Which made me think back to my old theory, and that she is merely playing someone from that part of the world but has never been there. (either that or she's very rude)

/removes tinfoil hat/

the cool thing with the pace of this season is that any mad theories will likely get played out in a few weeks.
