I have watched all episodes and think this is a real good tv show. Tom Hardy is brilliant as always.

I'm up to date. I know how he's going to get his ship. Dunno if that makes me smart. Mr PigDog has only been half watching it so today he asked me to remind him what was going on. It went something like "He's got this but they want it but so do they but he wants to give it to these guys in return for this. These guys are making this stuff, the whores are doing that, he's his son, his mother tried to drown him but he didn't know and hated his dad. There was a slave ship and this guy is investigating because that guy did bad and he was on it too and the king is after them for it so they don't get the original thing. And he's banging his sister."

I finished this show and am conflicted about it.

I really enjoyed the setting and location (early 1800s and London) and the production does an excellent job with this. But the show seems to want to say a lot but falls short.

I enjoyed how Delaney manipulated the East India Company and the Americans to keep them at bay while he was acquiring key provisions to support his goal. But then there were the things that fell short or just didn't pay off. Like his mysterious "powers" (if you want to call them that) that he garnered from his time in Africa. Also, the relationship with his sister just didn't add anything. The same is true about the back story of his mother and the little / confusing amount that the show tried to convey about that, which didn't add anything to what was happening. And how he was able to orchestrate all those moving pieces at the end was too far fetched for me. Also, there were were times during some of the long 90 min episodes that I was on the verge of nodding off to sleep, to be honest.

All in all, I give it 3 Smoky Tom Hardy Stares out of 5 (or alternatively, 3 Mumbled Tom Hardy Lines out of 5)

Also, is this supposed to continue? It was aired as a "limited series", so I'm under the impression this was it.

Just finished watching this over the week.

Fuck that was good. Hardy was brilliant, loved his lines and performance overall. Cinematography was great too.

Jonathan Pryce as good as ever, and the sets and atmosphere were spot on. Looking forward to watching it all over again.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
