OK, here's some stuff I've been thinking about:
Since we rarely lynch scum on Day 1, it's worth thinking about what we can do differently to stand a chance this time. I don't think it's a great idea to jump on inconsistencies, because actually unless you have a new player as scum they aren't going to give themselves away like that. So what should we be doing instead? My opinion is that you look for playstyle, you look for people going below the radar, you look for people participating but who don't really have their heart in it.
So how do we apply that to this game? Well I'm having a look through and I can see a few players who don't seem to be putting their money where their mouths are. Maybe these are scum players who don't want to look too trigger happy? Those players are Ultama and Gamelon:
First, here is Ultama, pointing something out as scummy but not having the conviction to go through with a vote:

Is it me, or Tulas is way too serious about explaining a joke? This pings my scumdar:

It wasn't so much a dare as bringing up the seemingly ever lingering specter of day 1 role speculation. Someone does it nearly every game, and inevitably gets themselves lynched in the process. And as long as I've been playing with you guys, it's been a town loss EVERY time it's happened. I was hoping by making the joke that we could avoid losing a townie to another stupid lynch.

At this point, I'm ok with dying. Yeah, I'd prefer that I live to play a bit longer, but my death gives the detectives something to look into.
Though if you decode top go that route, I will state that being lynched for making a joke about role spec would rank as the dumbest reason you guys have lynched me yet.
No vote with this? It's Day 1 - if any day is a good day for throwing your vote around, it's this one. With so many players in the game, one vote doesn't shift the balance. And we need the pressure that comes from people having the threat of lynching to get things started.
Then there's Gamelon:

I agree these commands are a bit weird. TS is absurdly fatalistic in these comments - he has one vote on him and lots of time left in the day. As Hanas pointed out, he's acting like he's at L-1 despite being nowhere near.
Had a think about why that could be, but it feels very WIFOM - virtue signalling to try to avoid a bad lynch, or scum playing the dutiful RI to give us the slip? Hard to tell between the two.
I thought it was odd that he was talking about getting lynched already, but I has not considered an over-earnest scum. Given how scum have recently won games by sober, middle-of-the-road play, I think this is worth some attention
Gamelon hadn't considered over-earnest scum as a possibility? This is Mafia! I find that highly unlikely. He's trying to fluff up the 'scum' side of a WIFOM argument, which goes against the whole point of WIFOM. Trying to skip the alternative interpretation makes it seem as though he's being deliberately obtuse. And having done that, he can't bring himself to cast a vote either.
So I don't like either of these two, but of the two, I'm probably less impressed with Gamelon.
