My in-laws love, LOVE cheesy Christmas movies.

When we go up to their house for a week i'll watch at least a 100 Lifetime and Hallmark Christmas movies.

Gonna be rough.

Tradition: Christmas is mom's birthday, so it's weird. We go out to eat Christmas eve for mother, eat cake, and then celebrate Christmas in the morning.

Song: Christmas Canon followed by Carol of the Bells

Movie: A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Tradition: 3pm Christmas Day, the Queen. A toast with sherry.

Song: I hate all Christmas songs tbh. I quite like a few carols but I never listen to any.

We tend to watch all the Harry Potter films in the month or two leading up to Christmas and we usually get a viewing of A Muppets Christmas Carol in too.
A Haunting Poem

We all Scream

Tradition: McDonalds.
Song: I can't help it... every time I hear Do They Know It's Christmastime I get a little emo.
Also, Bowie singing Little Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth with Bing Crosby, for existential reasons.
Movie: Die Hard.

Don't know if the humor in this video will translate into English but I just saw this on the Danish Reddit and this is the funniest thing I've seen in ages.

It's titled "THE SNOW HATER" and it's a 3 minute video of a guy cursing at snow while he drunkenly stumbles down a city street. He just keeps roaring out the words PISS, SHIT, ASSSSSSSS!!! GO TO HELL YOU ASS. COCK SHIT PISS!!! Etc.

This guy is my spirit animal. This is like watching performance art.

Seriously, somebody should give this the Untergang treatment.

It's even better because it is in Danish. It needs no translation as it is the universal language of the pointlessly irate drunk.

I love Christmas.

I love telling Christians how fucked up their holidays are.
Let's slaughter a goat and praise Odin.

But.

What's your favourite:

Christmas tradition
Christmas Song
Christmas film

For me.

It's my family traditions of meeting up on on various days over the holidays. I love my family, both nuclear and extended and my friends are always surprised how close my extended family is.
Song
Driving home for Christmas by Chris Really
Film
Die hard

Merry Christmas all you !!!Hope everyone gets to see their family and all that.

Family Tradition:
One kid<includes adults> randomly instead of getting a big "gift" is gifted something they absolutely will hate/embarrass/ or not understand..we record it. My sister got pots and pans with a note saying she will be cooking for the family as her final present (when 8)....she cried... My bro bought my grandma a shake-weight....You get the idea...it's so much fun.

Song:

Film:
Die Hard..Gremlins. something like that.

Song: Last Christmas by Wham. I don't care what other people say, this is the best Christmas pop song.

If you watch the video carefully, you can see that George Michael is married to the blonde who walks with him in the beginning of the video. He's playing a dangerous game the entire video. Totally changed the tenor of the song for me.

Andorion, do you host people for the party at home? My family always brings over people who don't have a place to go for the holidays. Thanksgiving was 40+ people and Xmas should be 20+. We're Hindu, but my mother loves the holiday and does a great job organizing things.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Tradition: Just spending time with family. My parents are separated so I do alternate years with each of them - and I enjoy both. Will miss my Gran still this year.

Song: Fairytale of New York. I know.

Movie: Dunno, there isn't one we watch year in year out. I always had a soft spot for Miracle on 34th Street though.

Not always no. The big congregation is usually at my grandfathers house who loves hosting an event. So its usually us, my aunt and her family and any of the extended who want to. This year we hosted my uncle from Delhi and his totally random friend.

Ok... THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF SANTA CLAUS is absolutely the most fucked up mocap animated holiday tv thing I have ever seen.
Ffs... Santa is raised by a lioness. He hangs out with scantily clad wood nymphs. And at one point the magic forces of nature go to war against a bunch of things that look like the 1970s love children of Mojo Jojo from Powerpuff Girls and Aku from Samurai Jack, to defend Santa's right to deliver toys.

The 1985 version.
...which I was unaware of until yesterday.

Someone took a LOT of drugs writing the book this was based on, then someone else took MORE making the show.

FFS, at one point Santa's adoptive magic Gandalfesque father breaks out an axe, talks to it, then uses it to chop an ogrething's head off. On screen.

Also, Santa fights a cobra and a giant spider.

SANTA FIGHTS A GIANT SPIDER.
