T'was hard for me to consider other mages than Quick here. Probably due to the fact that he is the best flushed out character in the series (from this list), and he's the one we've seen utilizing his talents the most.

I enjoyed The Ceda a great deal... and from a 'packs a punch' perspective would rank him near the top of this bunch. Nightchill I discount due to her history (not simply a HM imho). Baruk I take off the list as his talents appear to be alchemical. I'd love to see more of Vorcan as she appears powerful and intense... but Quick's subtlety and mastery of multiple warrens put him at the top for me. I feel similarly about Tays... powerful, but perhaps a little one dimensional; at least so far.

Has to be Quick Ben really...
I like a lot of the others, but he is one of my favourite characters overall, let alone the high mages. ;)

Quick Ben is god, but I liked Tattersail, Tay and L'oric, too. And Vorcan, even if I'd wish to read more about her... But QB is god!^^

Quick Ben, for style (especially the Bauchelain-affair and the HoC-affair with the doggies).
Tayschrenn and the Ceda run close second.

2 possibilities. One of them would have to be Bottle: he knows that most of what he's doing is complete jive, but he's trying to do the jive to help other people stay alive. Then again, there's Samar Dev, who knows everything, but is always fascinated by finding out how much she doesn't know.

All right, 3d possibility would be the Bole brothers, and the Mott Irregulars in general. I can't wait to find out who the Bole sister is, because I think we've already run into her under another name.

L'Oric...I'm sure there is a reason for this other than the fact that I pictured him to be absolutely gorgeous in my head......i'm working on it...

Bauchelain ;)
But as he isn't an option(He is, from what I can tell, powerful enough to be a High Mage, but still), I guess I'll have to go for another.

I think I'll go for the Ceda. As Tes'thesula said:

Has to be the Ceda... Anyone who just frowns when chaos is thrown at him is the king.

I was going to vote QB, but then I saw Cowl as an option. That scene in GotM when he warns off Serrat...I know it's short, but it is so....well I can't think of a better word so i will have to use it...cool  :) .
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.
