Fuck me, they finally made a good one.

And it's Wonder Woman... the movie they've been saying for decades could not be made.

I'd also like to note that DC...at movie # 4....has beaten Marvel who are at Movie 15 (and counting! They will be at Movie 21 before this occurs) to a Female-led Superhero film.

Good point. One could argue that the Black Widow's role in IM2 thru Civil War set the stage for this, but that's sideswiped since they still won't give her a solo film.

I'm just desperately hopeful that this signals a shift in the quality of the DC movies. Suppose we'll see when JL and Aquaman street.

I might actually go to the theater for this one. It looks great.

I thought there had been a thread for this movie but didn't find it in a brief search the other day. Coming from someone who was not ever immersed in comic books but knows of most of the more "major" super heroes, I am looking forward to this movie in a surprisingly big way. I know of Wonder Woman mostly from the TV show with Linda Carter. "Somewhat Amazonian" is all I really know about her origin story. But I thought Gail Gadot/Wonder Woman stole the show in Batman vs Superman. I'm not sure what it is about her (Yes, she is undoubtedly beautiful) but she struck me as perfect for the role immediately. I've seen every preview for this movie and it looks fantastic to me. I can find fault with anything I've seen to this point. I'm as eagerly anticipating this as I did The Force Awakens and possibly more. And my daughter is just as psyched as I am and even my wife isn't far behind. My 15 year old son, who doesn't really do the super hero thing much but did go see Guardians 2 out of boredom despite not seeing the first one, will probably go to WW willingly!

I remember the scene in Bats vs Supes where they're fighting [THE BIG BAD] and she more or less gets smacked and sent flying. They show her landing on her feet, sliding and coming to a stop, shield up, ready to attack again with a smile on her face. I immediately knew there that I liked her character.

A female superhero portrayed as one that relished the fight and doesn't even flinch in the face of some giant alien doomsday creature.

I thought she completely stole the show in her few scenes.

The only remotely interesting part of that fight.

Oh come on...the whole fight is FILLED with cribbed spread pages from the comics with the three fighting a big bad together. I can count at least 5 different set-ups that mimic EXACT fights and shots from JL comics over the years. And every single time I thought "Oh baby, that looks SO comic book-y!"

That fight is literally the best comic book team fight represented on screen as far as I'm concerned as a Page to Screen translation.

On topic: Jenkins has said her inspirations for the WW film are Indiana Jones and Donner's first Superman movie. Those are two GREAT bases to build a film from.

I'm kind of hoping that this shows DC/WB that Wonder Woman can be the connective tissue character from here on out, instead of always using Batman for that function.

UPDATE: Tickets purchased for Friday night! Woohoo!

As someone who has never read any of the comics, I couldn't care less how close they were to the comic spreads.

Sorry I should clarify
I didn't mean that to come off sounding so snarky.

My point was Morgoth disliked the fight and QTs rebuttal is about how closely it cribs the comic book and the like.

The majority of movie goers haven't read the comics or graphic novels. They love batman and superman from the film's they enjoyed as kids. Possibly the cartoon as well. So these parallel shots don't matter for shit if you don't know me what they are mimicking and so a lot of the stuff that made QT go 'aw hells yes' could have fallen flat for a lot of viewers

Oh indeed. I think it was more along the lines of "This looks epic" and I associated that with the comic spreads it apes." But I think that same epicness translates to the screen for casual movie-goers as a really cool looking fight. Three heroes, one with zero powers, against one moderately-decent sized troll? For my money that's cooler than say The Avengers against a big robotic alien worm and it's parasites, or Iron Man VS other Iron Men of various descriptions, or the Avengers against the Avengers: Bloodless.

I mean here is some of the concept art for the scene in question.

If this doesn't look badass, I'm not sure what does.

Avengers on avengers bloodless I'll give you was boring. I think Marvel with the avengers univrrde have almost pigeon holes themselves into a too clean corner now. I was hoping DC would completely invert that but I'm still on the dawn of justice was balls team and WW was it's only real saving grace

And that's totally a fair stance, and you're not alone.

Going to see this tomorrow. WW was the only really good thing about BvS, so my expectations are high.

Saw it last night. It was really, really fantastic! Every bit as good as the critics have said. Lots of nice action setpieces (the fantasy fight choreography is glorious!) scattered throughout some really, really fine little character moments. Gadot is PERFECTION from the moment she shows up on screen. Pine does a very good job at his role as Steve Trevor, and the other side characters are all very good in their respective roles. Loved it. Best DC movie by far, and I say that as someone who really likes BvS and LOVED MoS.

Saw Wonder Woman, and I loved it. It doesn't really feel like a DC film. There is colour and life and humout Gal Gadot is fantastic. She owns the screen.

See, if it wasn't for everyone else saying it's a lot better than the other two movies, I would say that the last sentence there makes your review a bad thing. :D

Watched Wonder Woman earlier.

Like I wrote in the other thread, I liked it a lot. I think the first half is stronger than the second and I think the film should have been rated R but it's a really solid Superhero story.
