I'm on a re-read after Fall of Light, and don't want to drop any spoilers, but on my re-read I'm really wondering whether the River God that has been re-awakened by T'Riss has any link to the water entity/ nameless god chained by Hannan Mosag in the main book series?

Certainly on my re-read I'm finding it a very big fit.

Wonder if anyone else has thought of this?

I think Midnight Tides gives a short backstory of the spirit Hannan Mosag bound. I don't have a particular quote on hand, but IIRC it was a spirit born in a place of human worship.

I'm kinda confused about the River god too. I was hoping we would get some info on it since it's a god so obviously a powerful entity....... but then I was also confused as to how easily some gods could come and go at the start of the original series too. Dunno why I still expect it to be different back in the day....

As to its identity.... for some reason I was sorta getting a D'rek vibe.... is it mentioned as being like a worm anywhere? Are there any similarities or have I just made the comparison up?
