Bakker was under publisher pressure to make TJE more accessible than the first trilogy. Then in TWLW Bakker said screw it and reverted more to the same format as the first series, and it and TGO are much better books (TGO may be his best book to date).

The second book is the only book I've started and never completed. 3/4 of the way through.
And to stay somewhat on topic, it had nothing to do with what's being discussed. It's because it was the most boring book I've ever held on my hands.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

You're missing out on some truly, truly wild stuff.
