Incredible! I'm glad you've taken to posting your Malazan work here, because so far, it's been top notch.

I would absolutely buy a deck of dragons

It sort of looks like the blood is coming from beneath her robe. Intentional?

Next do the Virgin of Messageboards.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Great picture.

A whole Deck of Dragons? I like that idea.

Mason of High House Death. There is a good description for him.

Beautiful. I'd buy a whole deck of those too!
Or the Master of the Deck, if you like a detailed description... Or Magi of Shadow or Dark, I'd like to see those

I, too, would vote for the Master of the Deck

Alternatively, maybe start with some of those cards mentioned early on in GotM - from Tattersail's readings - as we get really good descriptions for these.

Glad you guys like it. The blood on the bottom helps ground the image, I liked the contrast. I could have the blood drip further down her hands and noodle it more, maybe. When I figure out the border I'll revisit some areas.

The Rope got an overwhelming majority of votes for the next card on the reddit, so I've done a rough preliminary sketch. It's the card that's described right after the Virgin during Tattersail's reading, so a good place to start, I think. The description was vague "A knot of ropes unending", but I can't pass up a chance to paint some cloth and shadows. The book also mentioned Tattersail hearing the the sound of hounds. The image on top is the one I'm going to move forward with, the bottom two are other sketches that I don't think are as good, but figured I'd show anyway.

That is awesome.

How the rope looks, you could do some mad chain skills - House of Chains - Reaver!

There is quite a good description of the card of the Mason of High House Death from Tattersail's reading:

Wow, you are quick. :(

There are good descriptions for Mason of Death, Oponn, Knight of Darkness and Master of the Deck. I would also like the Hounds. Just some suggestions :D

Thanks, guys! For the record, this was the fastest painting I have ever done. Thanks for the link to the wiki! The Hounds will definitely get some screen time, too. There really are no bad options, all of the cards are so cool.

Here's a quick sketch of an idea I had for Orb... all I read in the book is that it stood for judgement and true sight. I'm guessing the Orb in book 1 represents the Azath House. I might just do more of a literal representation of an Azath for it, not sure.

Anyone have any insight on the Orb card?

Looks cool, but I couldn't find any connection between Orb and the Azath House. Did I miss something?

Maybe the Orb/Eye should be more in the centre and/or bigger, as the card is about it. But as fast as you are you probably finished the card already :(

I always saw the Azath like the great equalizer in the series, acting in essence as a natural judge of powers. Walk into it's yard and face judgement! Not sure if there's a literal connection in the book between the Orb card and the Azath, but have no idea what else the Orb card could represent other than Rake/Shadowthrone or Raest, who I think all are affiliated with other cards.. What do you think the Orb meant in the reading?

I figured the nature of the Azath was a good place to start as a symbolic visual aspect of the card, help keep the graphics related to the Malazan universe. Looking at it now, I agree that the orb/eye should be enlarged, the nose and mouth are distracting to the impact of that scrutinizing orb.

for now here are some sketch options for Oponn I started playing with. Feedback and references/insights are always appreciated!
