I just made a hypothetical Discord server after noticing the chat is down. All Silencer would have to do would be to make the 'chat' button redirect people to that (or any other) channel. (and it's important to let people know it's going to be external, but it's not much work if people want it)

Funny thing that - the chat section of this forum is the place that has generated the most moderation work for me by far. And also the worst moderation work. XD

Like what? I used to be always in chat and nothing untoward ever happened ...

It was by far the biggest cause of harassment and bullying complaints, as well as the main one for people just being general assholes. Since it started running it's produced more complaints than the rest of the forum combined - and if you exclude the "bad old days" of the discussion board, it holds the title for most required moderation period.

Anyways, I'd be happy to moderate the discord if it's ever needed.
