This movie is the best violent dr who extended and self contained episode ever. And that's perfect for Star Trek.

There are several moments that are so honest to the gods fucking stupid and yet pulled off with elan and style, so you don't mind in the slightest. It's genuinely fun to watch and reminds me that what Jupiter Ascending really missed was real sense of tension and joy in its characters. Somehow that movie was flat and thus a bigger mess and this one skates right by those air blades with ease.

I saw 1st at theater and mostly saw red as it dawned on me this was an Alt Uni version.

That was just the red matter!

Was there any tribute to Nimoy and Anton in credits?

Yes to both, so I've read.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Yes, and in the film itself:

Saw it. Loved it. However I'm a Trek purist and there's just slightly too much light relief in there. Damnit man, focus on the science.

I'm just going to pretend you didn't ask a question that is the equivalent of "what differentiates oranges and fire trucks"?

Saw it last night, was good. I felt the effort to be more star trekky, which was nice. My biggest complaint was the cinematography. Too much shaky cam in fights, too much 3D ( I saw the 2D) pandering in obvious "oooh look at the 3D" shots. A lot of strange confused perspective where you don't know at first if the camera is panning under the action or over it or to the side or what. It also seemed to get blurry which seemed to be a result of it being intended for 3D.

Better than the last for sure, despite any flaws. Good enough that I hope they make another.

Just saw it. Comments that it's like a longer version of a classic episode are on the money, lots of little nods and just as many plot holes and technobabble in the right places. Left me a little cold though, don't know why. A little ... unengaging?

It was OK though, 3 Inception-ripoff space stations out of 5.

Except classic episodes were not essentially action films.

It had all manner of cute callbacks and was mostly enjoyable, but big screen Trek will always be quite different from little screen.

If anything a bit too cute at times early on.

And a bigger plot complaint:

Spoiler

Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

It makes me sad that anything with buildings not on regular flat ground is immediately Inception-ripoff now.

It's basically an extension on the concept of an Orbital or Halo. Although considerably smaller scale.

Ever been in a multi-car pileup...or seen one on the news? If one goes, they all go like a chain reaction in seconds. But honestly, I think you're looking for nits to pick with this complaint. It's SUPER minor.
