Why build a coliseum if not to lord Romes greatness over others. to make rome the mightiest city in the world.

I'm not saying its a trait alien species might share, this arrogance we possess, this need to rule.
I'm saying its an easy sell for Hollywood, who wants to watch a film where the aliens blast the planet from orbit then set their ships to harvesting the planet? doesn't compute to our brains. they want to inhabit our planet, its green and beautiful, they're jealous and want it for themselves, they need to exterminate this lesser species in the way, but leave the cows and sheep there to eat.
Wheres the fun in watching aliens mine asteroids? why bother mining the asteroids, why the need to expand? just pick and uninhabited planet. we need a driving force behind the aliens, be it a catastrophe, and they need to crash somewhere quick, earth is the nearest habital, or they are rapacious conquers who need to dominate. these are both stories that we can pull from our own history and follow a (thin) logic trail to.

Would make for an interesting movie though. The massive alien mothership arriving in the system. Full panic. Defence plans are drawn. Montages. Fights in the UN. After two hours the ship has finished eating asteroids and leaves. Everyone's a little sheepish and it's never talked about again.

lol, actually would be an interesting premise.

sequel is "WE WANT OUR ASTEROIDS BACK YOU THIEVING ALIEN DOUCHEBAGS!"

Would be an interesting premise into human natures desire to claim ownership.
Hey, they're taking asteriods in OUR solar system, whats wrong with their own??

The Willennium is much darker than we were promised.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Do yourself a favour, pretend this sequel does not exist. Don't waste your time! The acting, writing the everything is abysmal. Its a Hollywood paint by numbers big budget movie that was manufactured by executives. There is no art in it. Its entirely calculated to grab cash, including an especial focus on the chinese market.

Saw a prescreening for free and still never got my moneys worth.

The only thing not also true of the first one is the Chinese market bit, surely.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I saw earlier that there are no press screenings until the release date. That should tell you everything you need to know about a big blockbuster summer movie that needs hype.

The first one had gung-ho performances though.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Saw it. Explosions. Battles. Huge spaceships. that is to say like the first movie but without the passion. Jeff Goldblum was good.

Overall unmemorable
