Hi everyone,

Here is my attempt at illustrating the Battle of Sekala Crossing, the first major engagement in the Chain of Dogs. This is my first attempt at drawing any kind of map, so any suggestions welcome. Critiques or corrections are welcome too, I've tried to make sure the geography and troop positions are accurate.

On another note, are there any other battles (apart from those that occur in DG) that people would like illustrated? I have already read the entire series, but I am currently up to DG on my current re-read.

What does the green part represent?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

First look, it seems quite nice, but I don't remember the battle in full detail so will have to verify later.

If you are looking for battles, apart from DG you can try the Battles in RG, DoD and TCG, but I think DG battles have the most tactical complexity

It's a topographic map, so the green shading represents different heights. I should have posted a scale in the legend, but the more yellow the higher the land.

One thing I didn't really understand was the length scale. The crossing is meant to be about 400 paces wide, so the battlefield would be many leagues wide in that case, which seems too large to me.

I'm seeing a lot of tiny black double arrows pointing upward. Is that the wind/air flow?

Ah thank you. Now some of the boxes have the temperatures shown properly w/ numerals (it's only 7 degrees most places, brrr!), but then others show things like animals or even a sword. I'm not really used to that meteorological insider stuff. I can suss out where it means raining cats and/or dogs, but the bird and sword are throwing me off.

Ah the number 7 is 7th army. The other symbols are the wickan clans... Crow, foolish dog, weasel. Although now that I think about it... They are all 7th army.

Ah, now it's starting to make sense. The blue wiggly stripe down the left side?

Jokes aside, I really like the map you have posted, and I also like your general idea of mapping the battles. Would you be interested in doing a complete series? We could upload your work on the Malazan Wiki as well as embed them into pages dealing with battles.

That's my goal, eventually. I'll be starting with DG, but I will extend it to other major battles as I reread the series. I'll probably only do the tactically advanced battles though.

The MoI battle outside Coral would be interesting if you try that. But the RG battles of the Letherii vs the Awl are probably the most detailed from a tactical PoV. The DoD battles vs the K'chain Nahruk are another good candidate

Very nice... though I would, annoyingly (I'm sorry), point out that it's spelled cavalry, not calvary.

Please do like... all the battles in the series like this.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.
