I've not played D&D either. Yet it looks like a fun game when they play it on Big Bang Theory. I don't have the types of friends that would play this type of game. I do meet up once a month for a game night though. I wouldn't know where to begin asking to play one of these types of games.

Simplest solution seems to me that a few players have simultaneous control over more than 1 alt, and can probably vote from whichever they prefer

Can we get everyone on the same page with regard to the extra alts please. You're not saying anything new about it in a very self satisfied way.

There is 15 players in 3 factions, there is 19 alt. Lynch majority is of active players. It is therefore pretty clear that the 4 extra alts will have their votes noted on thread by PS but that those votes will *not* count towards the 8 needed to lynch. So we could have 11 votes down on a player and they're still not lynched because 4 of those votes are form duplicate alts.

The way to deal with this normally is to look at the vote trains - who was on a train and who was off a train and how many names it took to get a lynch will narrow the alts whose votes count. Normally this takes at least 2 lynches. We have 4 additional alts, this makes it very hard to pin down a fake alt based on voting unfortunately. It can still be done, particularly if someone is using the extra alt as their more vocal alt. For this reason everyone needs to vote. By not voting you're effectively saying "I'm not bothered about finding a fake alt because one of them is mine." and I will try and lynch you.

So who could the alts be? Well Wizard with a familiar, wizard with Magic Mirror or Barbarian with an animal companion seem the most obvious. I'm a little stumped by what a Rogue would have but then I've not played since 2nd Edition. Why 4 alts? Well it could be that everyone in a faction except the Leader or the Elite has one, they don't because they have perks of their own. It could be that the two vanilla Wizards and Barbarians have one to give them a little more of a boost to bring them closer to the Leader / Heir / Elite. Every Leader may have one - a bodyguard for instance - and someone else has one as an ability.

In such a situation you have volunteered to be DM and therefore had better have read the rules beforehand. Better bet is to find a group of geeky pre-teen boys. They will be playing it. Or at least we they were in my day.
