Still 12 hours.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Please ban Azath Housecat for blatantly infringing on my original sentiment.

Oh dear!!!!
I have been away for a couple of days - thought I would come back to an honourable second place - did not see this coming!!!!
Well, the only way I can accept this honour is on behalf of everyone who has been working on the Wiki. The effort really is team work. Personally, it means a lot to me that fellow Malazan fans find the Wiki useful. Thank you!
I believe that being able to make a thank you speech is one of the perks you get with these sort of things???!!!
Well...apart from my hairdresser, personal chauffeur and butler - all of whom have yet to introduce themselves...
The Malazan world was not created by SE alone and so it is with the Wiki. I can not even claim to be the first to write in it... The Wiki was originally started by someone called Game Widow, whom I never met and who had the unenviable task of beginning the climb with never a hope of seeing the top of the mountain for years to come. After having contributed an enormous amount, GW moved on and Jade Raven adopted the orphaned Wiki. JR has been behind most of the formatting - from designing templates to, most recently, adjusting all info boxes to mobile friendly format. Unlike content, the huge amount of work behind the scene to make the Wiki mobile friendly... the hours it takes to design new templates and make them work across all the different display skins... they are less visible but add enormously to the site being user friendly to contributors and readers alike. You could say JR has been working mostly on the skeleton whilst I have concentrated on the fleshing out. So this award really does belong to Jade Raven as much as myself.
We would be pretty lonely though if we didn't have such a great team. There have been a lot of contributors over the years who have added an enormous amount and I am grateful to them all. However, I want to take the opportunity to especially thank those who who have made editing so much more fun over the last year!
There is the 'art team' as I call them (though they didn't know about that name 'til now) - apart from other contributions, Aimzzz (Azath Housecat here) and Andorion between them are keeping an eye on the ever growing image gallery. Aimzzz keeps the Image of the Week feature running and Andorion has been behind introducing the spoiler friendly gallery. Between them, they make sure that all images are correctly classified and that the artists (more on them in a bit) are getting the credit they deserve. They have been incredibly supportive in many other ways as well and are great fun to work with - thanks, you two!
If you have followed the recent changes on the Wiki, you could not fail to notice that there is one person who has been adding more to the content then all the rest of us put together and that is ArchieVist. If we had ten AV's, the Wiki would be completed (if that was actually possible) by Christmas! I am known for bugging everyone about references... to have a contributor who is adding so much concisely phrased content, someone who is keeping an eye on all sorts of other aspects, like links and spoiler friendly lay-out and to have that person add references as well - AV, you must have appeared in answer to all my prayers!!!
Toc, John, DaddinG - thank you, too, for your contributions
One aspect of the Wiki which has made a huge visible difference is the contribution of the artists - I am green with envy when I look at their amazing talent!
We currently have over thirty artists who have contributed over 330 images to the Wiki to date - too many to mention, but I would like to especially thank Corporal Nobbs and Dolmen who not only paint amazing images but have been incredibly supportive throughout. Although, with their contributions to the Advent Calendar, both are trying their best to make me cover my eyes - with one going for the horror and the other for the naughty aspect
Which brings me neatly round to a spot of advertising
We are running a virtual advent calendar in December - it would be fantastic if you popped in and took a peek behind the window each day!
My round of thanks would not be complete without a thank you as well to everyone here who has been willing to help with clarifying questions about some of the more obscure aspects of the Malazan world. And yes, IMHO, D'rek really should have been a nominee and should now be in the Hall of Fame!
Thanks again for appreciating the Wiki

I am now tied with Egwene again. I believe this means I should be added to the Hall of Fame as well. IT'S THE ONLY RIGHT THING TO DO.

Don't be so nice, Egwene. It is impossible to cultivate an atmosphere of rivalry when you act all gracious and shit. Really what has this forum come to

The fuck is this
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
